For me, I reckon the world champion should be the best surfer across a range of conditions. So I reckon there should be left and right reefbreaks, left and right points, rivermouth breaks and...metro beachbreaks. Maybe no more than one or two but I just reckon it's a legitimate and indeed required part of finding the world's best allround surfer.

Just me.

Mind you, it doesn't bother me much either way.
I can see where you are coming from in regards to best in all conditions...but who wants to waste their broadband on watching shite onshore closeouts?? Yeah, I know, these blokes can still turn twice and finish with a air reverse in conditions like that, but where is the dream??
Kind of like saying Tiger Woods should be made to play on some crap suburban golf course and set the course record to prove he is the world's best. The best shouldn't be made to do that... that's why we have the WQS.
Yeah, the golf analogy works for me. The point is, in great waves, the guys on tour are amazing to watch. The level of skill , especially in the finals was incredible; watching the timing and precision in what was double overhead and tricky was a pleasure.

i think someones fitness out the 8- see them get a few waves

p.s watching a guy call and scramble onto a jet ski.....isn't eaxactly amazing footage

Nike want to run a CT at Manly in between the Gold Coast and Bells events according to media reports today.

Did you know something 2nd Reef?

More shitty comps in shitty waves coming to a city beach near you.

Yeah, I did BA. And I got my info from a secret source, Roy Masters at the SMH:

Read the last paragraph.

 missed that one. Surprised the Manly Daily hasn't run with it.

In any event, I hope they have a long waiting period. They'll probably need it.

Isn't that what the qs is for?

Quik going out on their own (as posted earlier) sounds like those bank ads
I'd love to see a return of the skins events

Sure prids, qld is the place to go for a quiet little surf by yourself.

Are you in Qld or northern NSW now. You know there is a border there.

The writting has been on the wall for a few years, I did tout a couple of years ago that the search it self is more about marketing than insane waves.

Its sad really beach breaks are boring to watch, its like saying to a F1 driver they have to race priusus to prove there can drive everything. Its just not exciting, insane waves are exciting. there was something about watching chopes or resturants live that you dont get even watching replays. Its like your living the moment, when they take that drop into a maxing left.....I dunno edge of the seat stuff ..I can feel it.

Sloppy beaches no feeling at all.

Ive always advocted 6 events. 25-30 man invite 1 month floating waiting period, surfers are called to fly in aprox 1 week before a decent swell looks to be coming. 1 million dollar prize money. Now would you rather see highlights of them surfing 2 foot manly on sports tonight. Or epic 8ft desert point?

Well the border may be imaginary, but it does go close to denoting a point where south swells just stop getting in to the coast, and consequently all points south of the Tweed, and particularly from Byron south, can get all the exposure to the south swells as well as the cyclone swells.

Like Yamba, part of the glorious NSW coast, a couple of 1000kms of exposed coastline, in NSW.

Yep. Newquay will be back on the tour in no time. Can't wait. Bad luck for the bigger power surfers. How long before we have a Brazillian world champ. This new tour is set up for them.

Been announced that the event at Manly will be a QS prime event, not a CT.

Kinda good news I guess.
