ahhh what the hell... I'll bite.
last few months I've rarely posted on RS, and to be honest... to me the forum now has the feel of one of those parties where the only hot chicks left around 9pm, the cookie monster vocal metal band who were mates of the host kicked in around 10 and scared the rest of the guests away, and now it's 12:30 all that's left are about half a dozen drunk sociopaths who fluctuate between being your best mate and telling you their life story one minute, to wanting to punch your nose clean down your throat the very next. And no-one dares ask them to leave...
Yes I have seen ebb and flow since 2004 when I first rocked up, and I can recall other low points since, but I dunno... different feel this time. Maybe a lot of entropy... maybe a collective boredom... maybe a much needed purge of dead wood. Only time will tell if the cancer will respond to treatment. I do think for a long while RS has been the Court of King Carrol, and his departure left many of his serfs ( pun intended ) with a sense of tending broken land. I'm sure others will disagree.
I could go on and on about what "feels" different now, and inconsistencies like Capt. caveman v Locabogan, Pridmore v JD, and everyone v Dino v Tomtom, but the overall sense of apathy and ambivalence that's built up over the last year or so leaves me unmotivated to contribute. In the past I have greatly appreciated contributions from selected posters, and a few of them are still around - albeit in a subdued manner.
For now there's not many topics, or indeed personalities, that enthrall me. I will drop by from time to time on the off chance that changes in the foreseeable future, and if it improves I might feel motivated to post. Until then... I'm on RS vacation.
