 - some of gallen and birds hits. They were like hitmen assigned to absolutely murder thurston. Certainly put him off his game.

What can i say, Gallen and Bird are my hero's.

And with noddy's injury, looks like cronulla might start winning some games to.

All is sweet.

Yeah, the Blues got beat by 50 points in the first game, then 100 points in the second game. Then they are so so, so rude to play with no spirit, no heart in the third and spoil qld's "whitewash"
Not only that - NSW played with 6 extra men, and Qld were forced to bring reserves out of the crowd - not even real rugby league players.
Bad, bad NSW - and the media will write you off as just a "speedbump" on the qld "guts and glory road".

Good game, despite all the dropped ball by NSW.

Bell's trysaving tackle on Cooper was great, as was Bird's(?) hit on Thurston as he kicked.

El Masri had a good debut.

Not sure about Kimmorley.

ld's

Post by Nick Carroll » Thu Jul 05, 2007 10:00 am

I was surprised the SMH hung NSW's effort out to dry this morning, they heaped praise all over Qld's "guts!" etc as if Qld had been the total underdogs going in. Qld got a guts win! They were the favourites and played like a club team! They let a concussed player back on the field! The forwards let Lockyer take a total pounding! Well done!

NSW were the underdogs, they had some weird pairings and some big names who'd failed to turn the world upside down in previous matches, were playing in the Cauldron under a coach that the whole RL world seemed to agree was a dud for Origin, and still they managed to nullify Thurston, break Inglis, get penalties off the grandstanding KHunt, kick the crap out of the Qld forward pack, ruin Qld's attempted comeback in the third 10m of the second half with some really hard defence out wide, and win the match going away.

If they were a really hotshot team they'd have scored at least twice more. They're not, but they were good enough to win anyway.

Damn straight Nick. 8)
Though as a New South Welshman living in Qld for 20 years one gets used to the Qld press reporting like that. I haven't seen the SMH, but that doesn't surprise me.
NSW simply played better, harder and more focussed, and as you say - could have or should have scored another couple of tries.
Simply put - NSW "out Queenslanded" QLd and they don't like it cause they think its their personal domain.
And to those that might ask why I don't support Qld after living there for 20 years - I answer "would you support England in the cricket if you lived in London for 20 years and Aust was playing them??" :P :x

Worst prediction:
"Qld by slightly less than 50."
- Nick Carroll

Best prediction:
"NSW by 12"
- ahh, that would be me.

Colonel ... i believe i was correct 8)

As the three sharkies did pull NSW out, Gallen and Bird lead the team. And the lesser sharks mascot reefy had a lesser game.

Either way i can watch some of gallen and birds hits ofter and over :!:

p.s. it was Bird who put that hit on thurston after he kicked it
