^^^^ I've heard an anecdote that the New York phone book had about 50 Hitlers in it before 1939.
In 1945 there was none.

Greg Ginn, guitarist and founder of Black Flag had an older brother Ray that used to play in a few hardcore bands. During the early 80's the main target for every seppo hardcore band was Ronald Reagan and a name like Ray Ginn didn't go down to well with his hardcore brethren.
Changed his name to Raymond Pettibon and became a relatively famous artist. He did all the B&W cartoon art for Black Flag, Sonic Youth (see cover of Goo), Foo Fighters (One By One).

^^^^ Just quietly......I would put Ron in with that batch.
Sorry....
If anything, this thread has shown how much of a minefield choosing a kids name is. To avoid any issues I'm just gonna give my first boy my name and whack a Jnr after it.
Problem solved!

There is a well known baking company in New Zealand called Cockburn's Bakery and it is owned by the Cockburn family, (who are very nice people).
I used to call them and always laughed when I asked for Mr Cockburn and the receptionist said, I'll see if Mr " Co - burn " is free.
I suppose I'd pronounce it differently if I worked there too

Certain people from Dee Why might know a chick called Tuesday
an acquaintance has a daughter called Sunday.
another great category is the named-after-place-of conception.
I know of someone who called their kid Rome for that reason. Another one called Phoenix, and one called (believe it or not) Seattle.
Then there's the rash of Parises. But I think that's sorta the same as all the kylies born in the 1980s.

Cricket fans might remember the story of commentators talking about Brian Lara naming his daughter Sydney after a memorable innings here and one of them saying "lucky it wasn't in Lahore".

Too right
![rofl :D](./images/smilies/rolf.gif)
Having brought two boys into this world in just over a year I can vouch for that. Arguing with your partner for ages over names isn't much fun either (bit like trying to sort out the seating plan at your wedding :?
Anyone else here end up writing a list each and seeing if any names ended up on both to get a shortlist?
Also, funny how every time a name is suggested you can't help but associate it with a kid you knew at school - seems to ruin a lot fo otherwise good names

Have a good friend who called his first boy Michael and his second Jackson, I think he was a little embarrassed when informed

Look at this, I'm quoting myself. Geez I'm conceited.
Anyway, same topic. Just wondering if Kaipo Jacquias, who won the Billabong Pro and called his daughter Kirra, would have done the same if it was held at Manly? Or Whaley?

Imagine having such a cool name as to have a bodily function named after you ... hats off to Mr Edgar Britt, former top jockey and Avalon resident

Isn't that what George Foreman did? I recall reading he named his kids George 1, George 2, George 3, etc. Dunno how many he had.
