Is that Tom spruiking a real estate development?
Which would make Nicks article make even more sense and have more of a whiff about it.

Spewing. “The Crescent” is out the back on the floodplain behind town on the road to Plomer near Crescent Backbeach turn off.

I had a look at that land a few months back. Yep, when crescent gets cut off which it does semi-regularly during weather events that cause the creeks to flood, that land is susceptible. Couldn't imagine spending $500k+ for vacant land there.
And Nick's article on Surfline, he's been writing off that area for years. I guess everyone has their price.

fmd, pretty sad seeing a writer of Nicks stature turning into a cheap real estate spruiker in his dotage.

Someone’s gotta make a monetary profit from that Dunghutti land, may as well be the Carrolls.

Porko, Fanning and Steph are doing a wee bit of development just back from Snapper. Luke Egan and partners, just across the road from Greenmount SLSC, and Owen Wright is also dabbling ... its getting pretty common to see ex-pro surfers getting involved in the realestate developer game.

Sure, but they are open about being real estate developers.
Seems to have a very bad smell about it that Nick writes a puff piece about Crescent just as his brother is spruiking a real estate development on the flood plain there.
Especially after he spent years building his brand as a hard-core performance only surf journo who openly derided hipster and any retro surf movements.
Just a random coincidence?

Nicks story reads like one long advert to me. Should have a disclaimer at the bottom saying “Nick visited Crescent courtesy of the local hipsters, the local indigenous people (well just Pagey really), and the developers raping the land to turn it into a mini Byron.”

Maybe the Agnes one was a foil for this upcoming article……or as mentioned maybe they are planning a build there.
The position of the estate is pretty poor. Geographically it’s lower than the estates just west of town as you are coming in over the last hill. Lower than the lots directly at the back of town that sold really cheap years ago and lower than all the land heading out to Plomer on that road. Wouldn’t catch a sea breeze and no view. Definitely flood prone IMHO.
I presume it’s part of the bundle sold to council in the first native title claim. The other cheapo blocks were part of that deal. They were selling for $30-40 K twenty years ago.
