I like the perspective from Cape Solander. It captures the feel of the place. Good article.

Straight to the CV audio database aye, Iggs?
I didn't mention last night that, in the water late yesty, there was that full on fishy smell about, going into dusk with quite a few of us still out by the rocks at north end, and when a school of baitfish swarmed and leaped about just out from the break zone, I genuinly started to feel uneasy.
I wouldn;t have been surprised if something awful went down then or after I'd got out.

If you get eaten it’s too late and you can’t do anything about it anyway. Why bother thinking about them

Definitely have a heart attack. Apparently the bite is so sharp you don’t notice till the shark rips your leg off.

Attack at Avoca.

Yep. It’s been smallish and low crowds all week. Got bit around 7am. Probably a local youngen, will get the gossip at the viewing platform tomorrow.
I’ve surfed there Monday and Tuesday. Heaps of salmon around. Guessing a young white as it let go after he was bitten. Mainly juvenile GW, occasionally a Bull and there was a giant female Tiger just cruising close to shore and minding its own business a year back.
There’s a bait hook experiment going on here to replace nets. I could have sworn I saw the buoy go under for a few seconds the other day when I was out …..dant dant…

Few of those baited hooks dangling off yellow buoys off the beach here as well.Thud wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 4:29 pmYep. It’s been smallish and low crowds all week. Got bit around 7am. Probably a local youngen, will get the gossip at the viewing platform tomorrow.

Was told by a member of copa surf club. Good question though Beans, I never asked how he knew. Maybe size, don’t know enough to ponder.
I was just reading the bait hooks haven’t detected a shark this winter.

Just heard on National Public Radio that numerous vacationers swimming in Odessa this summer season have been blown up by floating mines in the water there.
And you pussies are afraid of a few girl sharks.

On that point. Was just chatting to a few fellas at Nortb Avoca SLC and the young guy ran home with his hand wrapped up in a bloodied t shirt. He’s stoked he’s getting a new board and wettie out of it. . Nothing to see here.
