Nope
Trouble was i even stepped in the resin bucket. Ripped the hairs of my left leg half a couple of inches past my ankle. The fup fairy was truly laughing at me that day. It was my worst day glassing ever

Nup, not yet. Per first page....

"sometime in January onward i'm going to have a crack at shaping my first board"

No progress, but I've changed my mind on design/size somewhat.

Still going for a twin plus stabiliser, but going with deep single to deep double concave with vee on exit. Swallow tail with a flyer. Keeping the overall design pretty similar to my duess twin. Just a touch longer and narrower. Size will be more like 6'1 x 19.75 x 2 5/8 and the rails will be more full-boxy standard (not downrailed) though keeping the flattish deck and overall foil/volume etc.

What weight foam?
Pink with composite construction is excellent.
Red will be bombproof if glassed properly

First board I glassed the resin went off too quick, started to gell after about 10 to fifteen minutes and I had to pull the glass off and start again.
The trick is to have a second person help spread and wet out the glass so that you have plenty of time to do the rails and this way you feel less rushed. You can even get a third person to help, you with a squeegee the other 2 with brushes (especially when you do the channels).
Speaking of brushes it is cheaper to buy the cheapest 3 inch brushes from bunnings than it is to buy the thinners to clean and reuse them.

Ive used the red and really enjoyed the blank. I always wanted to do channels and one day when I stop travelling I might have a crack at it. If I ever do I will use sun cure as this will allow plenty of time to get the channels wet out and the best chance and removing any bubbles left over. So looking forward to seeing how you go. I have practiced channels on plenty of cut offs and maybe while you wait you could grab a few cut offs and shape some channels into them just to get a feel for it.

Take plenty of pics, the tools you use and Im really looking forward to hearing how you go.

UV resin makes it too easy almost.

Surfblanks red is good as mentioned, though these days their blue is equivalent to what the old red used to be, so blue would be more than fine. And green would be fine as well, light and lively, especially if you're going to use S cloth.

I did the old red with 6+6 deck and after 3 years of 2-3 surfs a week was basically new once the wax came off. Was hefty though haha

Nah. Ditched the channel idea. Sticking with deep concaves

Red or whatever's the most bombproof. The extra weight won't bother me at all.

Any pointers on what the best fin system would be for a twin to prevent this type of shit from happening ??

Riley balsa have a video with a few tips on the installation of the Gearbox fin box system.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgEKJFAE3VA

Previously he was installing this type in the photo below in all his balsa boards.

Image

The major difference is that the ones in the photo are installed after glassing (easier) whereas the Gearbox ones get installed before glassing.

Riley also sells the Gearbox fin boxes which are slightly dearer than direct from Gearbox, but don't know what freight cost would be from Gearbox.

Also noted on the Gearbox site that the twin fin sets (2 boxes) are the same price as the quad set (4 boxes).
