Hydroflex technology and 3D glassing

Post by maggot » Tue Dec 30, 2014 1:53 pm

Does anyone know if any australian board manufacturers intend on taking up the hydroflex technologies / 3D glassing. Lost Mayhem seem to use it quite a bit with many of their pros so it must have some integrity. Its been around in the US for maybe 2 years but im yet to find an aussie board maker or laminator take up the tech. Im obviously pretty keen to get my hands on these boards using it. So Im Just wondering why? Or when ? And who in AU ? If ever. Its hard to find anything in any forums in au about it. Why the silence?

I have a hydroflex-glassed MC that was made at ...Lost in SoCal.

The board's an EPS blank with a wood stringer and the glass job is tough as.

I don't quite know why the technology hasn't made it to Australia yet, it's probably something to do with limited quantity of the machinery required. Re the silence, well, if something's not available and nobody has access to it, who's gonna talk about it?

If/when someone does get hydroflex glassing going here, they'll probably kill, it's crazy strong without affecting weight.

Yeah. The board doesn't flex much in water unless put under considerable pressure. You can jump up and down on it on land and nothing happens.

Ummm I dunno. Maurice made this one at mate's rates and did it there because he was there at the time

Just wondering what the general rate would be compared to a regular poly board for a regular hydro flex.

So I guess you would imagine Maurice and Hayden would be first off the bench with these over here?

ah maybe. They've had experience with hydroflex and know its advantages.

I asked around a bit and there's no sign currently of them setting up here.
