July's mega south

Post by Nick Carroll » Mon Jun 22, 2009 12:41 pm

OK you supposed weather gurus, tell me all about the gigantic series of southerly gales on the prog charts for 4-7 July.

Come on put your cards on the bloody table.

Are you talking about the long range GFS charts showing some tight fetch in the southern ocean on the base flank of a large southern ocean high pressure system....all pointing to a rather solid SW groundswell aimed at the equatorial Pacific region?

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

My understanding is that Walker predicated his forecasts on sunspot activity.
In short he was transposing a mid C19th charlatan wanker delivery to a sympathetic (Queensland) audience. FFS

Yeah. Haydon Walker.

and his accuracy is beyond doubt.
BTW a guy in NZ at the beginning of this year predicted to the week the two unseasonal downpours we've had in the last couple of months (also using sunspots).

and how exactly does one calculate the effect of sunspots differently on each and every fairly small surface of the earth.

what was the prediction for, say, Tennessee for the same period.

bit like using sheep's bladders to predict earthquakes really isn't it.

One doesn't. One looks at what happened during previous, similar sunspot outbreaks and Inigo Jones, then Lennox Walker and now his son have an excellent record based on this method.
There are other proponents around the world.
Jones and the Walkers base their predictions on historical data, not just sun spots but the ralative position of other planets, the earth's magnetic field etc.
I'm certainly no expert but I see no reason to question their success rate.

So a 300 yo record (at best) gives "reliable information" FFS

That'd be right, just as it happens I will be chilling in freezing cold Bathurst.

And sheep's bladders.

Getting back to the swell event. Progs are flexing around a bit but have consistently pointed to the mega low explosion to our south. Could the false warm weather be about to get the crap kicked out of it. Along with the beaches again.

The east coast one looks alright for us.

How are those lows that have been hammering south west WA, and the one on that prognostic chart.

These are the biggest mothers on the planet I think. Easy to see how that region gets monster swells when things line up.

So much energy!
