When was the last long weekend with swell?

What surfer doesn't care about the weather? Who hasn't predicted the arrival of a new swell? Do all of it here!

When was the last long weekend with swell?

Post by FishStick » Wed Jun 03, 2009 4:53 pm

I've just seen the weekend's forecast. Seems like every long weekend or public holiday we've had for some time now has had little or no swell.

Most public holidays including the Christmas and New Years period have been shocking. ANZAC day was epic but that fell on a Saturday. I don't know what to do on 3 day weekends that are forecast to be flat! So tempted to work over the weekend and get the time in lieu for it from the boss.
The wave at Curl Curl is so good they had to name it twice

Sorry again for the image quality in those shots, wave's a long way out and had a pretty crappy camera back then

So much for the forecasts and even the reports this morning. Supposed to be flat? Scored lots of nice little shoulder high sets. Little groundswell too so it wasn't weak slop either. One website had all beaches labeled as "desperates only", thanks, it kept the crowds down!

Well, it was pretty small for nearly all the weekend :P

I missed this pulse of SSE groundswell though  Too busy keeping an eye on other systems

Ah well, the second half of this week looks good finally for some decent swell!

I wondered why both yourself and Steve didn't mention it in Friday's forecast??

Ha......for you southern folk perhaps....but up here....she's gonna have way too much SSW bias on Friday for us, and Saturday looks to have a downward trend, but perhaps a smidgen of east of south in it for us??

I can't remember the last weekend in Vicco when we didn't have swell :P

Think it was back in late March or early May perhaps....

Yeah Don, the fetch under NZ wasn't catching my eye on Friday and I was distracted by another long-range swell wrapping around Tassie and totally discarded this one. Bit bummed that I missed it in hindsight but it will keep me on my toes from now on

And Hatchy, it might be alright on your side of the Peninsula but the Surf Coast has had small and average waves for the past 2-3 weeks now. Things have finally started to improve though over the last few days :D

Don't stress Craig. The fetches under NZ very rarely catch my eye as well, as I'm usually gazing over the top of NZ for any fetches out there (and I have to say I'm liking the looks of what I'm seeing at the moment as well). SE Qld and S'ly swells (any swell periods.....long or short) are a hoax in my opinion.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.
