Re: JBay.

I had wondered about AI, and TC to an extent after reading the book, how they managed the comedown during boat trips or remote locations when the gear was most likely not available. Unless of course I am completely clueless (which is highly likely)about how open or available it was.

Re: JBay.

To be honest, I find this all pretty surprising. I've never been to JBay, but the way it has been talked about for ever, it has always been one of the waves on my bucket list. Never really heard the downside of it before or heard that it isn't all that it is meant to be. However if we are talking po...

Re: Ask Carroll

I picked up a copy of Surfing World at the airport and there is an interview with Jodie Cooper. She goes on to describe how she got punched in the head by Johnny Boy Gomes in crowded surf. I can understand guys not wanting to get involved if it was a guy getting punched but punching a girl? Seems th...

Re: Tomo Surfboards

^^^ I think those boards are the last ones I would want in that size surf. Those boards, and in that size surf, just smack of trying to be different for the sake of it. Having said that, if hipsters jump on board and struggle, I'm all for it. Wow...I'm starting to sound like Iggy on a Hypto Krypto r...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I should have driven a bit to find a better bank. Longie was really straight yesterday so was avoiding that. Freshie was barely breaking with board riders on in the corner so fell for the Curlie hoax. Saw a few guys getting reasonable rides so fell in the trap yet again, just a place I can't get the...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

My record of shit surfs at Curl Curl remains intact. The ratio of 1 good surf to every 20 bad ones survived. Never in the right spot, too far out, too far in, too deep or too far on the shoulder, I'm not even sure why I still persist there.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Thank you for the warm welcome Braithy. Leisurely surf at Burleigh followed by a Parma and Beer in the sun at the fine establishment that is the Nobbys surf club made for a fine day. Back in Sydney now and a full wettie again.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Been in Queensland for work the last few days and had today off. Borrowed a board and surfed Burleigh for the first time, warm water and fun little swell. Nice way to start the day.

Re: Building the ultimate trendy Mid-Length.

Given most boards are machine-shaped now, and I'm guessing the Psillakis ones done under licence are probably with a CAD (or similar) file, is there any difference getting one made under licence as opposed to one imported which was probably machine or ghost shaped anyway?

2 Event wins and at least a semi now for Bourez in Fiji, surely the world title is his to lose now?

Re: Fiji 2014

Watching Slater v Bourez, must be a pretty dismal forecast if they are holding it in this. At least 6 minutes now with no waves ridden... not exactly riveting viewing.

Pretty poor, maybe a C- . Had a couple of great surfs in March and around Easter but almost nothing of interest for the last month.

Re: Hypto Krypto voted "board of the year"

I've had a go on the 5'8" and while the overall volume was fine, I struggled adjusting to having a board that short. In the end, with surfing time limited for me at the moment, I didn't want to mess around learning to surf something that short. That and the 90's fad which I fell for of skinny and he...

Re: post your modern day sickness

Couldn't recall if this is the place everyone was posting their guns but whatever. Here's three out of the garage. IMG_0564.jpg From left 8'1" six channel pintail shaped by Allan Byrne, glassed and sanded by Steve McDuell. One of the most important boards (to me) I've owned. I wrote about it in Whi...
