Re: Surf fitness

Nah, ya gotta do chins (paddle power). I don't have anywhere to do them at my house, only when I go for a walk or a run at the local park, 20 is my limit ATM.

Surf fitness

Realised my fitness might be OK (ish) but my surf fitness has a long way to go. Thought I might do this workout regularly: http://www.sbsboards.com/top-20-surf-fitness-exercises-power-strength-stability/ Anyone got something better? Oh yeah, on the days I don't surf I usually do a 60 min swim one da...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

One and a half to double overhead is four to six foot in Aussie terms . Except for beanpole The problem with that is for the wave size that occurs 90% of the time (less than one and a half to double overhead) you only have 1', 2' or 3' to indicate the size of the waves. I'm gonna report Hatchy to t...

Re: Having a break from surfing?

Obviously the damage is relatively minor, I would have used the word snapped if the tendon had separated and would have been in emergency awaiting surgery. I've had so many ankle and rotator cuff problems over the years I just don't bother seeing a doctor unless it gets chronic, i.e. pain and stiffn...

Re: Having a break from surfing?

I must admit I've been reading this thread with just a hint of schadenfreude. As a consequence I've torn my Achilles tendon and have been hobbling around for the last week. if you tore your achilles tendon, you'd know about it. excruciating pain, your calf muscle curls up into a ball half way up yo...

You do say! What is best, as a paste on the ankle, ingested, smoked or as a suppository?

I must admit I've been reading this thread with just a hint of schadenfreude. As a consequence I've torn my Achilles tendon and have been hobbling around for the last week. There was actually some surf yesterday and there had been some improvement so I gingerly hobbled down and tried to surf. I comp...

Re: Geoff McCoy Surfboards Collectors Corner

Would the double ender be good for weak summer longboard type waves??. Single fin Yeah, absolutely, the difference between the TSA 6'8 and the 7' was huge, but its not a mal by any means. I have 3 2+1 boards that I ride around Perth (6'4 fat arsed wombat, 7'10 Takayama egg and a custom 7' pin tail ...

Re: Geoff McCoy Surfboards Collectors Corner

Actually saw a stack of McCoy Double Enders that looked like I might like to ride them. I've owned a 6'4, 6'8 and 7' (TSA original shapes). They have a very flat rocker, so are fast and catch waves easily, but I had trouble with turning them and catching the nose in steep take offs, not pearling, b...
