Re: Ask Carroll

In respect of elite sports persons why is it that some get the timing right on a dignified departure from their career whilst others hang on and risk diminishing past achievements. Two specific current examples come to mind. Michael Clarke and Robert Slater. Your opinion as a sport journo please. I...

I reckon it was Sean.
Probably has gotten sick of being a poncy dolphin and has turned into a gws and was just being a typical big bro and fcuking with his little brother.

Re: No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face.

Surfed Nationals from 6 to 9 this morning. To full on the high but the last hour was so fun. Breaking well wide at the pot and connecting through to johnsons. Best thing was the lack of crowds??? Getting busy when i got out and the hordes were descending. Enos should be on this arvo

Re: Midlengths

Back to mid lengths.. Years ago I had a Laguna Bay 7' 6 "mini mal" shaped by Phil Myers which I bought for my then girl friend. That board was a something special. Spent 4 months traveling between Sydney & Noosa after she was long gone and surfed it way more than any of my shorties. I have had a mid...

Re: Midlengths

Pretty sure he won't regret the lifestyle he's had ie, travel, waves, chicks, drugs, adulation, income, etc
But... when he looks back at some of those vids he is going to feel pretty shit about his actual surfing! All style over substance.
Love the spinal tap analogy

Re: Midlengths

Have never quite got Knost. Being in Noosa & surrounded by his disciples it is hard not to be aware of him (not a bad surfer but tries so hard to be "unique" he kooks it most of the time). Saw him around several times in different locations during the festival this year, ie surf, car park, bar, etc ...

Re: Byron bay surf festival

The first 100 or so pages focus on the history of Bali. Research very detailed and extensive and to be honest I found it fascinating and left me wanting more. After the 'Morning of the earth' discovery it was just a few anecodotes from expats and friends. Some were interesting and deserved more expl...

Re: Byron bay surf festival

What's funny about that article and how out of touch it was is that it is pushing Jarretts book from last year! His latest offering isn't mentioned. Which by the way, except for the first 100 pages, is utter garbage.

Re: Ask Carroll

Strongly disagree about Mr Myers! For someone in his position to describe anyone of colour as "apeish" is not only naive but reeks of latent racism. His pathetic offerings since, ie his public letter, show him to be a complete asshole whose arrogance is astounding. Live by the sword , die by the swo...
