Re: Summer 15 -- enter the el niño
the latest outrageous pursuit I've really gotten into since i broke toes is underwater running in the mouth of the creek with boulders. ran for one minute y'day, into the current. the feeling after an hour session of that is like totally zen. Okay folks. If you can all just dry your eyes, throw you...

Re: Indo...is it worth it
Seal Rocks. Lovely spot. As a Queenslander, it baffles me why people come to Queensland for the beaches. Queensland has only about 200 kms of surfable coastline, half of that is not very good. What's left is mostly not even swimable due to Box Jellyfish and Irukandji. Then there is the heat, the mid...

Re: Fast Eddie
You are right the WSL don't own surfing and are only a small part of the sport it still doesn't make them exempt from engaging with local stakeholders such as the local hawaiians when they want to claim the premier breaks in a region for a few months of the season. No wonder a few of the locals wan...

Re: Fast Eddie
Fed up to the back teeth of corporate interests taking ownership of everything that belongs to us all . The rot has well and truely set in......revolution is becoming inevitable. I don't understand the concern that the ASP/WSL have taken ownership of surfing. They don't affect me too much. They don...

Perhaps he's about to set up a bottom turn, seeing that his foot ...

Re: Pic of the day
Interesting that nobody would be seen dead with that stance on a board these days yet is seems perfect for that era. I don't think that was Cabell's usual stance. But, he came from the U.S with a reputation as the new, fast, smooth stylemaster. He quietly went out in the little-known, fast, bowling...

The Talk Story event at Freshwater Beach on tomorrow and Saturday has some pretty impressive participants. Looking further at your options.
Train and bus from Brisbane Central station to Coolangatta. 2 hrs 15 minutes.

Feasible, if determined. Depends on what you consider is a reasonable time.
A train and then a bus to one of the northern end Gold Coast beaches would take about 2 hours.

Re: Summer 15 -- enter the el niño
did it have floating vesicles at the termination of the branches? I didn't notice any vesicles or varicoceles, though I didn't palpate. I kind of ignored the seaweed because; 1). I don't mind seaweed, generally, and 2). Everybody else swimming around kept mentioning it, which made me a little peevi...

Re: Summer 15 -- enter the el niño
I swam at Mooloolaba Beach on Christmas morning. Crowded, with an enjoyable bodysurfing wave. Quite a bit of brown seaweed. Not cornflake, I think. I don't know what cornflake seaweed is. This seaweed was 15 to 30 cm long, multi branched, scalloped, browny-green seaweed. Found a spot with a dense pa...

Re: Pipe Masters
And Julian Wilson is the triple crown champion. Tremendous achievement.
He stayed in Hawaii last year for a month or so after most of the pros had left. Copped a lot of heavy wipeouts, but worked on his Hawaii skills as just another free surfer. He paid some dues.

They have 1.5 days of comp to run. They are going to try to do the 1.5 days of remaining heats all in one day tomorrow. "It's off today unfortunately as the swell really hasn't picked up yet," Kieren Perrow, ASP Commissioner, said. "We're working on the best way to complete the event in one day tom...

They are on the other side of the date line, so when I say Thursday, that is Friday (today) in Australia. They have 1.5 days of comp to run. They have 3 days to run it (Thurs to Saturday). Swell will pick up Thursday afternoon (today), big on Friday, tail off on Saturday. Still too much sand and win...

Re: Pipe Masters
Best at Pipe so far, Tom Carroll.
An epic 9.6,
and one of the best ever 5.17s you will see. Just lost his footing after exiting a long double section Pipe barrell. They tend to penalise those last moment hiccups too much sometimes I reckon.
