Re: camper vans/campers at local

This mirrors the response to boat people pretty well. I wonder how many surf charters bump into illegal boat people as they cruise the outer islands of Indo? Role reversals have bands of surfers chasing long haired, dope smoking itinerants in combis off their turf. A bit like Dennis Hopper chasing h...

Re: Kids surfing - how young to start

Quite apart from the obvious fact that its great fun it also allows kids to go out and test themselves, take a few risks and learn how to look after themselves. It can also make them rude arrogant self centered little pains in the butt. Of course thats really what surfing is all about. Ultimately wh...

Re: The Floods

Saw on Mediawatch the other night about the reports that 30,000 pigs were floating down the river
Then the paper printed a retraction saying it was 30 sows and pigs. Gold.

Re: camper vans/campers at local

I guess no one sees any irony in a bunch of surfers who were as a group the original drive around the coast in a combi and crash anywhere tribe wingeing about someone else doing the same thing. You have turned into your parents.

Re: camper vans/campers at local

People throw rubbish into the nature strip outside my house, chuck plastic bottles out of cars when they stop at the lights, spew on the footpath outside the pub up the road and piss on the neighbours front doors. These people aren't tourists. I was out in the surf last weekend watching a sanitary n...

Re: The Floods

Geez those IAG shares I got from the NRMA have been a great investment

So you can get insurance as long as the industry thinks it will never have to pay out?
Good deal.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Ah, overcast, howling, cool southerly and practically dark at 5.30. After this week it sure feels good.
Had a crappy surf yesterday at about 1.30. Nearly burnt my feet off trying to get to and from the surf.
Man, its been hot.

Re: camper vans/campers at local

Apparently according to todays paper theyre all buggering off because the dollars so strong. All the backpackers in the X are doing poor business at the moment. So you may not have anything to worry about. You can all go back to trying to win the local Tidy Towns competition.

Re: The Floods

Borrow the money, tell Abbott to pull his budgey smugglers over his head and forget about the bloody surplus. It cracks me up that Abbott makes a big play about being a clubbie and then when a real emergency happens he just goes for the political jugular. Would you trust this man to rescue you at th...

Re: camper vans/campers at local

Why does everyone have a problem with eurotrash backpackers camping in their back yard? They add much needed colour to the increasingly sterile vision of the east coast. What if its a van full of swedish hostesses? Personally its the irish biff heads and the poms that get me angry. As far as pommies...

Re: NEW SURF SCHOOLS AT NEWPORT MONA VALE AND WARRIEWOOD

I've seen a few guys lately who do this kind of dance when they surf. Their legs are in a full poo man stance but they wave their arms and kind of raise their body up and down slightly. They seem to think theyre doing turns but they aren't     Its great I reckon. Sometimes they d...

Re: camper vans/campers at local

Seems the nimbys are out in force. Presumably theyre all wicked vans on their way around australia. Probably do the same thing myself if I was travelling that way. You just get the aftermath of all the eastern suburbs backpackers hostels van sales. I've had to be up at the cross a few times lately a...

Re: Surf school graduates.

My daughter went to a surf school and doesn't surf. My son never went to a surf school and can't get enough surf no matter how onshore and dodgy it is. Still seems a bit more reluctant when its a bit bigger but thats changing fast and has me wondering how long till the role reversal is complete and ...

Re: Surf school graduates.

Since the September of 1969. I learnt on a seven foot pintail which was allready superceded. For example my next board was 5'10" which was average a year or so later. Took me about three years to actually start really surfing and I remember reading an article in Surfer Magazine that Bob McTavish wro...

Oh theyre cute when they are young but once they get out on their own theyll go for the jugular as soon as look at you. I reckon a meeting outside Monavale Retrovision is on the cards here.

Personally I blame that new Manly Surf School TV Show.

Re: NEW SURF SCHOOLS AT NEWPORT MONA VALE AND WARRIEWOOD

Cheers carroll :D They should round up some of the local delinquents in the bus and just drive around all day with them in the bus and out of trouble. Maybe take em down for the ferry to Patonga and give them a one way ticket. They could go wake boarding on the way. That would clean up the line up n...
