Re: Where did you surf today ?
I watched Sandon Point yesterday arvo grow from 1 to 4 foot in the space of about half an hour. 4 dudes out. Pumping. I didn't have a board with me, but that was cool, as I was returning from work and more excited about today's prospects. Had a beer, went to sleep listening to some booming sets..Wok...

Re: Does surfing under the influence enhance the experience.
I like the idea of blazing a spliff as I cruise the coast, listening to Jimi, finding that sweet set up.. paddling out to smoothly rip the wave apart over and over again.. then quietly return to my car buzzing with the vibe. The reality is whenever I smoke weed and surf, I suck. But the first bit, b...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Scarborough yesterday was as fun as it gets out there. 2-3 ft peaks all the way along the beach...busy, but so much choice it didn't really feel like it.
Been out of the water for months with injury, so it was a very satisfying surf. Surf satisfaction meter: 8/10.

Re: Ask Carroll
Thanks Nick, and Legion. Yep I had a feeling that things may end up on the operating table..It just doesn't feel like an injury that is going away anytime soon.
I want to surf for the next 20 years, so a few months out isn't the end of the world!

Re: Ask Carroll
hi NC, I'm pretty sure you may well have answered something like this before, but I've checked as much of this thread as I could and haven't come across it.. So, I have a genuine fcuked AC joint in my shoulder, the full 'step' deformity (bump) etc. I took 2 months off surfing, just rested it, but as...

Re: skateboarding ...
Hey, this thread has really taken me back- I moved from Fremantle to Five Dock in '85. Right near Five Dock park... The Bowl there was fcukin insane! Really made more for BMX I think... but there was a crazy scene there, very Dog Town Z boys.. Guys with nick names like 'Snake Eyes' and 'Weetbix' (wh...

Re: correct paddling technique?
look don't take this as gospel, I'm not qualified to diagnose anything much less from a distance, but my own experience is that stretching, massage, and continued work is the best way through shoulder pain. It's really hard to ice that area and there's rarely any obvious inflammation. Maybe to redu...

Re: correct paddling technique?
Hi folks, I know this post began 5 odd years ago but it has just made a big difference to my way of approaching paddling. I guess 5 years ago I was only 32, without a pain in the world... now I have some severe shoulder pain across the top of my right shoulder (AC? Rotary Cuff?) and I realised my te...
