I think Tim Winton's a good bloke but I was underwhealmed by Dirt Music, didn't mind The Riders or whatever it was called and only had a half hearted crack at Cloudstreet. I kind of don't relate because its so close to home. I'm sure if it was about lumberjacks I'd think it was convincing.

Idle pursuits-do it now :D
Go surfing, learn the guitar, take up gardening, read a book, veg out, relax.
Tell them to chill out at work. I think I'll write a self help book.

Keep trying petulia. I'm glad you learnt something and its good to remind the -why don't they just- crew of how little you know. Salty is just angry because he went to Byron Bay and found it was as crowded as Bondi    All of these hardcore characters still blow it occasionally even if...

Depends what theyre great at. Toulouse Latreche wasn't a ballet dancer and I don't think Nureyev could paint for shit

There always seems to be at least equal parts personal misery. Look at Bruce Lee.

Like Kwai Chang Kane as he balletically moves over the rice paper without breaking it. And then it was time for him to leave, grasshopper. Always a shame they ditched Bruce Lee from that show since it was his idea. Then we would have seen some balletically  gracefull moves and some serious bu...

Hey Matt. Give Blue Bay a miss for a while. Too many rocks and too crowded. Maybe if you managed to see it small with noone out. My advice is keep trying shelleys main beach maybe a bit further south or north when its small. Thats about as good a place as any up there. Dont go to Foresters Beach or ...

Arrrg :x Not this again. The worst example of this recently. I was goofing around out at Playgrounds on Lombongon which was tiny and I mentioned to this guy that I'd been surfing somewhere else during the week. He asked how big it had been and I said 3 to 4 foot. He's gone wow overhead to double ove...

So this guy rocks up at the beach and pulls all these moves that have everyone going "What the #*#! how did he do that? He's a genius, a freak, a great artist etc." Gradually a few people take the hint and then over a long time it becomes part of good surfing. Boards are designed to make it easy to ...

Gold star Fongster. I always just thought of Curren as that Yank before Slater who trashed our noble and eternal destiny as the premier surfing nation    Then I'd watch his old man in old mal videos and wonder what it would be like to have that heritage. Then he'd pop up in odd places...

And then on to the monotheism vs polytheism debate. Having just been goofing around in Bali after a very long hiatus its refeshing to come in contact with people who live by a very different set of precepts. It also brought up the old Theosophic notions of religion as a universal quest for truth. T...

Good to see Manly taking the initiative here. Bondi is full now so the rest of NSW needs to step up to meet the demand.
