Re: surfin in contests

I was up there a couple of years back when it coincided with Cyclone Ului (?) in 2010. They were pretty casual about it, if you snagged a wave that went from Nationals or Johnsons through First Point only occasionally would the announcer get upset. Couldn't take off at 1st point though....

Anyone else think Slater was overscored in his quarter with John John, almost becoming a regular occurence.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I've seen the biggest and nastiest looking swarms of bluebottles ever this week. Big, deep purple and navy blue with stingers well over a metre long. Thought I had seen the worst on Thursday at Bondi but yesterday at Bronte the beach was a mass of huge bluebottles. One monster had a two metre set o...

Re: SW WA... wetsuit in Sept?

Great to hear..did you score any of those spots in Denmark area? Inji point is fun wave but the walk out there is a killer on the calves, never surfed it with more than two or three out. Yalls, if you can score the left in the north corner of the bay that is a great wave, the peak in the middle of t...

Re: Hurley Pro

I think the bigger over score for Kelly happened in the semi versus Alves...his final wave of 9.57 see med pretty high compared to Alves only getting 8.5 for his effort.

Re: SW WA... wetsuit in Sept?

Steamer without question..

8 footer really only necessary if you want to have a crack at Margaret River at 10 foot+, if not there are more protected options when Margs is at that size which a 6' 5" should handle...

Are you staying around the Margs area or Yallingup/Dunsborough end?

Fin choice

Need advice on fin choices for a longboard. I have a 9' 2" longboard at home, not too thick and a very pulled in tail; not quite a 'performance' longboard but not too far off it either. It has FCS plugs for the side fins and a fin box for the back fin but I'm looking for a fin set up that focuses on...

Re: J Bay Pro - No Dane

I reckon it's bloody direspectful of Slater to carry on like this. It's disrespectful to the contest organisers, to the ASP and to his peers to simply not turn up. As world champ he has if anything a higher responsibility than his peers. He is the main focus of promotion for this event (along with ...

Re: Fiji in December - am I kidding myself?

Hey guys I have booked some cheap flights for early november... has anyone surfed there in november, have an idea of the general conditions then I am hoping the southerly swells will still push through a bit and the winds be a bit lighter, however judging on how spring is here, am a bit concerned i...

Recommend a shaper!

So I'm looking to get a couple of new boards, ideally from someone based on the Northern Beaches. I like boards with a touch more length and volume but not looking for a pop-out etc. Probably a quad and a thruster... I know of Haydenshapes, other suggestions?
