Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Yeah Trev after I wrote that about Ann St I went away and thought about how off the mark it was too. What I should have said was it's known as a bit of a cruisier wave unless it's got at least a couple of feet on it. No disrespect intended and you'll find me there a lot during Autumn /winter most ye...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
You got it spot on OG, The 6'4 Zap I think will become my everyday board. The new 6'6 narrow allrounder for anything of substance above say 4-5', but especially if the swell has serious grunt. The 6'0 Zap is fun but doesn't really perfrom brilliantly in any particular conditions, whereas the 6'4 can...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Quick ride report on the narrow All Rounder. Quick because after the lack of swell I then got crook and missed all but the last few days of it, and even then I haven't exactly been firing on all cylinders. Well firstly it's certainly made to ride big stuff, it doesn't like getting in early on smalle...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
OG, I don't like taking new boards out in surf they weren't meant for so I don't get the wrong vibe on them from the first surf so been riding the Zaps as per usual. But it got the better of me yesterday and took her out for a 1-2' slide yesterday. I must say it paddles brilliantly and really feels ...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
I would like to apologise to the people of the Sunshine Coast for buying a new board. I've jinxed it big time.

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Spoke to Geoff yesterday. Overall let's say there's no grand plan to suddenly start up shaping machines and pump the country full of McCoys. By the same token he's not going anywhere either. He is NOT selling the brand. Marc looking at retiring and MAYBE opening a MCoy shop wherever he goes so if th...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
The new sled has arrived. Yes, I know I have a serious addiction. From left: 6'4 Zap, 6'0 Zap, 6'6 Narrow Allrounder with pulled in tail, 6'0 Stumpy. Essentially the 6'6 is an extra 6 inches of graduated tail added to the Stump. She’s actually 16” tail – I asked for 15.5 but I’m glad it’s not any sm...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Ohhhhhh man that is pretty. But I wouldn't be able to ride something that pretty, it would have to be a wall hanger and I'm in enough trouble already with a board coming that the Minister For Defence doesn't know about yet.
But how do you put the loaded dome in it?

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
OG for really sloppy stuff I have actually been riding the 6'4 Zap, because it stays on top of or goes over most of the shite, and if you find any sort of section you can still hit it OK. But generally speaking I find a different location even if it's smaller or have a layday if it's due East. The w...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
SurfyWurfy adding side fins would seem to fly in the face of what Geoff says with the rail shape being customised at the rear of the board? Obviously the rail won't do nearly as good a job as fins. Perhaps if you had smaller side fins (bonzer style) you were really just adding enough for it to be a ...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
First one was a pic I was playing with, 6'0 PotBelly left, Zot middle and 6'4 Stumpy right http://i26.tinypic.com/21o3eo.jpg Two Zots (Phase 1 I think?) from the factory side by side - makes a huge difference to plan shape on the short one. http://i50.tinypic.com/sncj9c.jpg The only ones I could fin...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
OG ouch - I have often said to my mates that I don't ever want to snap a McCoy because I know I will be snapped first. I got shut down on a Noosa Main beach cyclone barrel on the PotBelly and thought I had turned my knee inside out, and it didn't even break the glass. Batoes that was one serious wip...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Whooaaaaa
Just had a Bundy Distillers No 3 epiphany
Go back to OG's original pix and look at the decal, it says "Astron Zot All rounder" OK so is there a difference between a straight Zot and an Allrounder one?
Like all epiphanies it poses more questions than it answers.

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Here's the quiver before I got the 6'0 Zap and sold the PotBelly. 6'0 PotBelly left, 6'0 Stumpy Nugget middle, 6'4 Zap right http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt328/KookeBoy_photo/IMG_0040.jpg And the same pic below with the 6'0 Zap overlaid, so this is the current quiver. Disclaimer: Bought the sm...

Re: review of Mccoy Astron Zot
Hey Baty what makes you so sure Horan would have even made the top 10 without McCoy. Everyone says he would have been world champ without McCoy. What about the other way around? Maybe he'd be an "also-ran". ;-) That super short PotBelly would be so different to anything anything I've ever ridden (Mc...
