When did they stop pumping? The shark management program (SMP) commenced in 1937 and there was a marked reduction in shark attacks soon after. A whole lot of men weren't swimming in the ocean from 1939-1945. That's the problem with the data, there are so many factors that can't be controlled for.

I dunno crabby, I don't know that anyone can really answer that with much certainty. Most of the really big ones would've been around before the ban, so they are ones that didn't pose a risk or take baits (evolutionary selection pressure, you see). To an extent they probably keep the medium size one...
