Re: Prejudice in Surfing
Its a very good article. Now that leaves sexism and the other big one that needs dealing with - homophobia.

Re: Melbourne Surf.
Hey Matey, I'm guess you don't mean 'in' Melbourne as that only happens at the bay beaches after 24 hours of gale force southerlies, and its arguable if its worth it. If there is swell and the wind is northwest head either to Torquay (Pt Impossible thru Bells and further) or to Pt Leo and surrounds....

Re: 3 Month Trip Planning- Thoughts?
My first suggestion would be south up through central america. Maybe Peru, do Machu Pichu and Bolivia for 4 weeks surf free then spend a month up through Peru surfing and then you could fly up to central america for another month. Mix of amazing experiences and surfing. Plane ticket is expensive, co...

-If you get a chance go to the wholesale fish market in Tokyo where you can see tunas being auctioned off for the price of a car. You can then have a sushi meal straight after. You need to get up really early in the morning to do it. You will have to check though. I think they closed it to tourists ...

Re: Intermediate surf spot - Bali/Lombok
In Bali Canggu, when there is not a lot of swell, is not a bad option as it has a few different spots that are for differing abilities depending on the tide. Most are reef/sand bottoms. Tends to blow out early in the dry season, but I guess the winds are better this time of year.
enjoy!

Re: J-Bay
Thanks Gibber.
Was looking at early in the winter - maybe June/July.....which sounds like it may be a bit less crowded...
Sounds promising from what you have heard. I am not expecting uncrowded paradise, but there is busy/crowded and then there is zoo like bad vibe etc....
cheers

Hey all, Looking at a trip back from Europe next Southern Hemisphere winter. Thinking of going via South Africa and amongst other things giving Jeffreys Bay (and surrounding area) a go. Having been to Bali last year and being bummed out by the crowds just wanted to see if anyone had been recently an...
