Re: Where did you surf today ?
I was expecting things to have dropped off a bit by this morning. But I suspect there was some longer-period swell coming through that kept things pretty solid on the sets.

Re: Planning two weeks thru Oregon and Cali in May
Mendocino is worth a couple of days. There's good camping on the beach at Russian River, and redwoods and elk. Stop off at Sea Ranch if you are a fan of Northern Cali. 70s architecture. There is also surf. The cascade mountains are sensational. But if you're coming from BC, then you've seen mountains.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Anyone surfed either little or big Marley beach in the royal national park before? It’s around a 50 min walk north or Wattamolla. I’ve checked it on foot three times now, and curious to hear from anyone that’s surfed it. Apparently it’s deemed by SLSA as one of the most dangerous unpatrolled beache...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
that must be a bit frightening having a kid or partner have an anaphylactic reaction to jack jumper ants. I think we used to call them meat ants. big flat nests that look like clay tennis courts? been surfing the local river mouth the last few days. distinctly average conditions. somehow it all look...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
When did they stop pumping? The shark management program (SMP) commenced in 1937 and there was a marked reduction in shark attacks soon after. Anyway, anyone who wants to know the SMP needs to read this despite its length and complexity: https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
I presume he means when they put the outfall 7 klms out to sea in the 80s. no. two distinct events. abbatoir waste pumped off the cliffs into the ocean ceased with the closing of the Homebush abbatoir and sale yards in 1988. So, it never was sent into the 7km outfalls. little bay outlet was probabl...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
So, there was a decrease in shark attacks after netting was introduced in Sydney...Or another way of stating things might be -- there was decrease in shark attacks in the Sydney region after they stopped pumping the attaboir waste from Homebush straight out of the ocean outfalls of the eastern beach...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Yeah pumping Point surf here today, absolute bombs. How big down there gents? the shoalhaven yesterday was a solid 4 foot, but nothing spectacular, then again I didn't get out till a little late and conditions probably weren't at their peak. Saturday seemed the better day, but there was a mal conte...
