first birthday
21 August marks the first birthday of the link on the home page of realsurf.com pointing to the wrong page. http://winhelp.com.au/makesurf/getreal.jpg The Sydney MHL link http://new.mhl.nsw.gov.au/data/realtime/wave/DirectionalSpectra-sydney is still pointing to the old directional spectra of that d...

Re: MHL and what can we do about wave rider buoys?
I came here today to bitch about how slow the MHL buoys have been this week. Just checked the page: http://new.mhl.nsw.gov.au/data/realtime/wave/Buoy-syddow ..and it was up to date. Does anyone know what the problem was? I get the impression that someone is vetting it. Why can't the data just be live?

Re: MHL and what can we do about wave rider buoys?
There's a bunch of them in Queensland, too. https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/coasts-waterways/beach/waves-sites/ Thanks for that, I had not seen this. I found one Victorian buoy here: http://www.vicports.vic.gov.au/community-and-bay-users/Pages/Waves-wind-weather.aspx I do prefer a wave rose to a...

MHL and what can we do about wave rider buoys?
To start with we should pick on Don. From the Realsurf front page the MHL link still goes to: http://new.mhl.nsw.gov.au/data/realtime/wave/DirectionalSpectra-sydney This shows the old style wave rose and it is dated 21 August 2015. Don Norris or someone maintaining the site should update the link to...

Yes, with a paddle that is only long enough to paddle kneeling down.Trev wrote:Do you mean when paddling back out.
Why would I worry about looking dumb?
This site has the reasons why it is preferable to standing:

Kneeling (up or down?)
Hi, I am interested on your thoughts on this. I have been doing it for more than two years and have yet to see anyone else doing it. (I am used to being a trendsetter - NOT). http://kneelupps.blogspot.com.au/ . http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_W6DzgVU1to/Uu1sCpCHhCI/AAAAAAAADuM/o657xJ_VfwI/s400/steve+1.jpg

Under the heading of Alternative - Kneel on your SUP
So you own a SUP, it is small, and great to surf, but Sydney surf is more bumpy than Hawaii.
What do you do?

>>I've seen someone get completely poleaxed out at Wedding Cake
I've seen some cute, uncrowded waves at Wedding Cake but the paddle out was more freaky than the wave.
WEAR BOOTIES all the time - rocks and broken bottles (they wash up and break on the beach)..

Yea, you could write a book on "Beach reading"
In fact Rob Brander has:

Found this.. http://www.port.ac.uk/uopnews/2012/05/30/scientists-warn-swimmers-of-heart-attack-risk/ Professor Shattock said, “These heart rate irregularities caused by Autonomic Conflict occur quite frequently on immersion in cold water but may only become lethal when other predisposing factors exi...

Cold Water Immersion - good for you?
Hi, I always worked on the idea that cold water immersions were good for you. However, now I am being told by my cardiologist that I should avoid it. He generously put a stent in an artery of mine two weeks ago. What information is there on contraction of blood vessels of people with high cholestero...
