3rd in round 1 yesterday am
1st in round 2 yesterday pm
4th in semi today so no final for me this time.
Some hot competitors from Vicco, Lennox, Cabarita, Burleigh and the 3 clubs up here so I'm happy with that.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Did something similar at Freshwater once. First light, massive swell but easy out in the rip channel along the south headland. Got out the back, still alone and realised I shouldn't be there. Managed to snag a smaller one by paddling like mad between sets, dodged the rocks, made the beach and went h...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Had the remains of one in our backyard at Castle Hill.
Zero/ Roundup just killed the shoots which came back within 6 months.
Eventually I excavated a whole terrace down about 2 feet to access the stump.

No sign of it when we sold 10 years later.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Big at Bronte. Breaking way, way out with about 6 guys sitting there. Didn’t see anyone catch a wave. Both inside and outside Bombies at South Coogee we’re working. Guy on a foil caught a fcuking monster out the back with a tow in. Ended up getting smashed. Earlier he had ridden the swell right aro...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

The spoils so far.
Not bad for a $65 entry fee.
That's a 9'6" board cover.
And those fins go for over $100.

Re: Fistral Beach June

Anyone surfed here recently ? Heading there in 2 weeks and found a good (supposedly) board hire shop with real Mals across the road. Since you were here regularly Shaun. There’s this very proficient surfer who was once in the Wales national team as I understand it. He’ll have all the good oil for y...

Re: Fistral Beach June

Was there in 2010. Didn't surf. Actually didn't think much of Newquay at all.
Impressive hotel on the headland.

Plenty of surfers in the water even in September.

Re: Arthritis in big toe joint

I finally went and got an X-ray on my big toe- yep, moderate to advanced arthritis. Fucked. It’s been really bloody sore too. So, what are my options? It’s pretty much cooked, right? Any ways to alleviate pain apart from anti inflammatories? Since mine is painful the whole time I’m at work (wearing...

Thanks for the heads up, Trev. Who needs to know more than wave heights, wind direction and tides?
Well, I use those graphs BECAUSE they show the period.
I can tell the wind direction and a fair assessment of wave height by the sound of the surf I can hear from my bedroom window.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Beans, look at Seabreeze. Tells you everything you need to know without having to even start your car up. It is perfectly relevant to the average parker, i mean punter. Simples graphs. No need for marine science degrees. Qld Govt has great wave monitoring sites from Tweed Heads north. Graphs give e...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Old school surf forecasts involved looking at isometric charts and seeing how far away the low was. Further away by default meant longer period but so what? Unless you are somewhere like Indo, Fiji or Hawaii it’s largely irrelevant to the average punter. Are you suggesting swell period is irrelevan...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Noosa.

5 waves from the entrance to Nationals car park to First Point.

Phil Jarrett tells me he's off to Indo shortly.
Watch out for him cranked.

Anyway, one less to worry about for the Wrecks and Relics.
