Good Indo story :D One of the disadvantages of bailing that I don't think anyone's mentioned yet is that if you always let the board go eventually the legrope's gonna snap and you'll have to swim back to shore. On a big day your problem is magnified. Yeah I mentiones that, and that puts yourself in...

Well my point of view on this is to always hang on to the board because if you ditch it did you ever stop to think that the leggy could snap, which it probably will in the conditions your describing after a few throw aways. If it snaps people 100m down the line will be happily paddling and not notic...

Yeah the water is at about 14deg and you can still get away without using booties, just not in the early morning and last time I remember Pines breaking was just after Easter in the holidays on the 20th of May, but I don't really rate it at all, I would only surf it if the Dump was too big and closi...

Doesn't look too bad guys :? I thought you never really get any swell around your side of the world and when it does come your discounting it? I would just be happy that you have a semi clean wave to surf, looks very windy though!

I agree aitch, Ben has no problems with cred as everyone I know uses and loves the site and hopefully this mess will clean itself up soon, as i'm sure Swellnet doesn't need these kind of distractions.

We have had a few solid swells down here but it has been a little less than past years as these high pressure systems still hanging around have deflected a few more swells getting in but in the past couple of weeks more of the solid swells have started to come through :)

Yeah this is very interesting and what im reading from it is that someone has hacked the swellnet site and changed the report for that day or it was photoshopped as suggested earlier and maybe reggie has an affiliation to coatalwatch

All in all a nice and juicy thread :)

Cutloose 6'3 and my new board is also a Cutloose but 6'2

The new board craps all over the old one as the old one was 10 years old and they have come along way in shaping from then, not saying that the old one was bad its just that the new shapes have got it right.

The wind would have been blowing a bit but if you look in the background it isn't whitecapping so the reason why the spray looks so thick is because I think the photo was taken with a slight time lapse and thats why the spray looks so thick, but I could be wrong.

Its one thing to kill yourself in private and out of the public scene without causing other people to be involved and traumatised by witnessing this sad event. If there were 200 people on the beach and he paddled straight out in front of them that is wrong and selfish and who knows what kind of issu...

Coastal Watch is crap and so are most of the other sites that have been mentioned. I go with Swellnet as it is the most accurate and I use it to back up my own predictions from looking at Stormsurf, Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center(www.fnmoc.navy.mil) charts and then a little prog...
