Re: Where did you surf today ?
Saturday morning was smoking. The nearby bombie was the best I have surfed it - sheet glass barely any other residual swell, no current really, so easy to get in the spot. Solid 6' some bigger and 3 of us taking turns, a couple of big barrels. Just a shame those conditions don't line up that often d...

Re: Four Corners & Wavepool
This whole wavepool thing has the faint whiff of the 'monorail' about it.

Well done Steve.
I'll definitely go there.
And if you can work in some kind surf-chicken stories - all the better.

Re: Portugal.
Drove from Lagos to Porto and back a long time ago. Hung out a lot in Ericera and Peniche, and scored loads of waves - obviously. From hazy memory Ericera was a nicer town. Was later though - November and December, no shortage of swell, and I remember surfing loads of empty beach breaks away from th...

Dead still here till about 2pm. A certain island right had some decent 6 ft sets and some nice walls. Swell was relatively organised, until now. Looking good over the next few days down here.

Re: September suggestions - not Indo
Thanks for the info. Good advice. I am angling for Hawaii, but renting a place on the north shore aint going to tick the babysitting, cooking, cleaning boxes as easily or cheaply I think. Will chase up some fiji options. Regarding Tahiti - I seem to remember a couple of pensions and resorts that may...

Re: September suggestions - not Indo
Here's another bump for you. In roughly the same predicament. Looking at a september holiday, for about 10 days two kids (2 and 6). Need options to have the kids looked after and don't want to do much washing or cooking, but could do something self contained for a while. Wife would go back to indo -...

Croyde, near Saunton. Not far from Ilfracombe where Damian Hirst has just installed a 10m high cast bronze half dissected pregnant woman, positioned right at the harbour entrance - to much consternation from the locals.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Just back from Devon - first surf in 3 months and ya wouldnt believe it - sun out, 18 degs, water 15 degs and 4-5ft offshore peaks. Surf fitness woeful though, didn't realise it would degenerate so quickly. Was blaming the 4/3 wetsuit, but I was weak. Got some fun ones though, and amazed by the crow...

But the link from your first post says that Council have just voted to spend $1.7M of ratepayers money on 'investigations and consultation'?

Waves were crap. The occasional 'corner' as they call them. Although Julian got a 10 in the next heat.

Re: Kirra Cruise Ship Terminal
Easy. Nobody was watching. Here's where the Gold Coast faces a crossroads. What sort of place does it really want to be? Its a bit late for that isn't it? They went straight through that intersection about 50 years ago. Although, its fairly obvious this idea is pure spruik. The bloke is a classic e...

Re: Bong in big trouble
A bit of schadenfreude never hurt anyone... Still - that glee has to be a symptom of Billabongs failure as a company. If you set yourself up as a 'core' surf company, you have to be prepared to wear some flack when you are on the outer - that's the nature of the beast when you play in the fickle yoo...

Re: Bong in big trouble
I don't understand loyalty to a company, like nationalism for a business. I'ts not tall poppy, its just discussing a businesses fall from grace and why. I don't get why these kinds of discussions get repackaged by people as 'tall poppy syndrome' to negate any kind of actual critical thought. More li...
