Re: Just general surfing stuff

Like seatbelts and smoking, let's go back to the 60s. The Iggy scale has been in place for 50 years. It's not a "now being done differently" thing, it's multi-generational. Wearing seatbelts and not smoking are both common sense. Classic strawman argument. Sizing a wave based on some vague formula ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

In the 90s early 2000s I seem to remember Bass coast surfers would call it closer to face value than surf coast surfers and west of cape Otway they’d under call it even further. The Iggy scale seems too have been adopted more globally sometime after that. Probably through the wannasurf comment secti...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Insane.
I took my 7’1 out the point this morning, up the top.
Some pretty solid lumps to take off on, but not nearly that big I don’t think. I was glad for the paddle power.
Would have struggled on my 6’1 golden child.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Burleigh probably more consistent as a one stop shop if they’re not gonna move.
Snapper if they have the use of Dbah for small days is better.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Snapper had a bit of a tube fest going down today.
They actually could have got the comp done, starting today then next 3 days were in the waiting period.

A few of the chicks would have got found out in a behind the rock or bust comp.

It bugs me when they do two turns and an air on a closeout and get 7.7 or 8. Particularly at somewhere like Burleigh.
Burleigh fine as a venue. Natural amphitheatre and you’ve got the National Park.
Agreed…parking is a problem.
Why do the air when the two turns can get you a 9?

I thought the comp was great. Much more atmosphere and history than Snapper. Great comeback stories for the two men’s finalists. Crowd seemed to love it. Highlight was Parko.
+1 beans

But Snapper is much more convenient for me, distance and parking wise.
Think of the parking, please.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I’d never disagree with you, Buddy. You’re close to the sanest person on here. But I will say that I watch most heats this morning on the Tele and it was a very different perspective when I went down for the semis and on. On screen it looked like 2-3 max. Down there it looked more 3-5. I reckon the...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I didn’t think Toledo’s barrel wave was underscored.
Nice barrel but not incredible, then massive turn but on a small section so no big risk. I would have thrown an 8 at it.

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

My mate told me about that one today. He was at the other end and a guy came by and told him it happened ten minutes earlier and showed him the photo. I thought he must have been talking about sharpes cos I drove home from Byron about 2.30-3 and there was ses, ambulance stretcher etc but I’m not sur...

I always thought he was a high -priced hipster shaper.

My mate got a channel twin from Sideways for $600 and it goes great- he shreds on it.
Ellis Ericsson 5’7s over $2K from wildthings
