Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Just bought a long arm/short leg front zip, sealed-seam wetsuit They're commonly referred to as a spring suit, and in this case a long-armed springy. Its like saying, I just purchased some open toed rubber footwear which attach via two straps that form a V across the top of the foot ... rather than...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Just bought a 2mm long arm/short leg front zip, sealed-seam wetsuit from Surf Warehouse for $160. I already have the same model but long arm and leg 3x2 ($210) for nearly a year without any problems.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Me too. That was just decent wind over 36 different spots over 12 days and a thousand plus Ks of coast line. I'm not going to bother seeing which ones actually had any surfable waves. You'd be lucky to get an hour I reckon and drive a 1000k to do it.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Well, more like where I won't be surfing. I have been to the southern beaches in WA only a few times and its hard to score good clean waves. I checked the surf forecasts for the south coast of WA (from Denmark to the SA border) for the next 12 days . There are 33 surf spots covered and none had offs...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Was hanging out with Banksy, he reckons his surfing has had a new lease of life lately. He's gone short, 5'10" twinny, and is loving it, even in the big stuff. And always low volume, and he's a big guy. Said he paddled for a double overhead set wave, what the fuck am I doing he told himself, halfway...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Thanks guys, the background and the all-to-rare surf conditions were too good not to want to share it.

This morning was similar, the best break all to myself again but only for an hour or so, choppy swell quickly cleaning up, rain and lightning out to sea... then sunshine.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

All ready to go out yesterday at 1pm. The tide was low, about 6" of water over the reef, the predicted swell hadn't arrived, there was a light onshore, and no-one was out... so I sat down in the shade. A couple with Christensen longboards arrived. They ask the best way out. I tell them there isn't o...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

The very early wet season has made finding good surf a lottery. The winds are all over the place in speed and direction without much adherence to the forecasts. Wave size and direction forecasts are often close to reality but the swell has dropped dramatically in size. The heavy rain is flushing out...

Yeah, did he ever on that clip. It might be the fin, I found my feet all over my board when I put the starfin in.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

After months and months of endless offshore winds the onshores have reared their ugly heads, a whole week of them is predicted! I've often found onshore predictions to be incorrect at this time of year, in that the actual prediction should be light and variable, but that doesn't seem to be part of t...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Here's some footage of Cheyne riding a single fin. It looks really fun to me and such a different way of surfing.

Note, not a starfin.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Ah not quite Thud, I'm finding it really hard to get back to short"ish" boards though after three long years of a torn rotator cuff, covid and riding longboards. Getting there now with reasonable, uncrowded surf.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

https://i.ibb.co/SKZs0kF/20221003-162237.jpg Rode the board on the right this morning. A couple of head high sets came through and it behaved perfectly in critical situations: almost airborne on the drop, hard critical bottom turn, no problems, into a little barrel, pumping for the exit, didn't hav...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I put a Cheyne Horan winged keel in my 7' Aloha today. Wow! Very different. Sets were head high and breaking fast. What was instantly noticeable was on take-off the wings slowed down the drop giving me more time to get to my feet, and definitely not getting pitched as I was sort of glued to the wave...
