Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Overkill for Sydney but anywhere that gets cold it would go alright. If it was a chest zip, it would be even better.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

2 surfs today. This morning not too bad. This arvo average. But, what a day weather and water wise. What a difference 100kms of coastline makes. Just checked the BOM observations for the cennie coast and the wind was more than double the speed down here. No way. I spoke to a friend at Kiama who sai...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

When you were driving the bus, dropping people at Byron or the Goldie and then picking up others and taking them to the airport later in the day, was that one trip or two? That was considered one run. Ie starting at Byron, picking up people dropping at Airport for outbound flight, then picking up p...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

How do you judge talent, coordination and skill. Very subjective. Guy hasn’t got a leg to stand on, hey maybe that was the issue. From about 3 minutes in Hindmarsh has a crack. This looks like intermediate but his ability is fairly representative of some who have a crack at advanced. https://www.yo...

Signing waivers usually means close to jackshit in these cases. Where the waiver covers the actual risks and potential scenarios that could arise, waivers actually mean a lot. Where the waiver doesn't cover the risk or potential negative outcomes, or what happens in the pool is different to what th...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I’ve surfed intermediate, advanced and advanced turns. I don’t consider myself an advanced surfer, but have no trouble surfing those settings. The amount of people out in the advanced sessions that I don’t consider anywhere near even an intermediate skill level is pretty crazy. My last session a gu...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I'll admit, in advanced and probably beast mode, the wipeouts are pretty fucken gnarly and happen often.

It's interesting to watch the number of people that crime out split open or with a busted board.

Bondi is actually more like Curly or The Farm.
So, it's shit then?

Great morning down here, loads of waves coming through for a very early crew. Consistent, lots of east in it. Scored a smoker on my last one to the sheds! Water- cold.
Not onshore down there?

Waited for the tide to drop a bit this morning and had the best surf I’ve had for a while.
Hit Manly yesterday.
You're retired and yet of all the days you could choose to go to Manly, you choose a Sunday?

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Look at the hyperfreak. It's so flexible. Even you could get in to the chest zip. 2mm (I think) but feels like <= 1.5. Hyperfreak material is good. Have a 1mm long sleeve top for summer mornings or late surfs in the wind, a 3/2 steamer and will get the springie version when my Xcel dies. And the si...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Went down expecting it to be flat but found a chest high peak.

Put proper fins in my foamie fish and had a ball.

Strange squall came through, howling northerly wind and rain followed by a light offshore and sunny conditions.

Re: Midlengths

Not a rider of twins but have mates that rate them way higher than the old MR's. Not sure if it's due to bottom contour, rails, plan shape or a combination of all of them but my recollection of twins was they were woeful in anything remotely hollow and terrible on your backhand. Modern twins seem to...
