Re: Where did you surf today ?
Lot of angry blokes in the water today.
One bloke called me a cnut because he wasnt sure which way he should paddle, as he paddled directly towards the peak, to get out of my way when i was paddling for a wave.
Lots of shouting over various blatant drop ins.
Good banks though.

Ah yes, cannot wait until it really warms up. Missing Winter already and it’s not even over. I might ride a log all summer.channels wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 3:41 pmLot of angry blokes in the water today.

I might do that too.

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Bondi looked similar with a cast of thousands. Tama and Maccas looked great but as usual reports said not quite as great when youre out there. It's often a classic case of waves looking that bit better if you are looking from a bit higher up. No parks.
Yes would have been worth the trip by the look. It's not that far. I was actually thinking it was going to be huge with a SE Wind and had pencilled in a check of Neilsen Park.

^^ Looks fun. I reckon surf wise, in terms of variety it’s the best place in Sydney. Although I was happy to get the fuck out of there in my early 20’s

The general mindset of the inhabitants?

I was going on the "biggest swell event" ranting everyone had been going on about all week. Actually more of a west facing harbour novelty break.
I think there's more chance of the pumice invasion.

That’s merries reefs, and voodoo just near it.
Voodoo would’ve had waves. And yesterday midday onwards would’ve been insane. But, these days - drones, jetskis with camera crews sitting in the channel, 50 people shoulder to shoulder trying to take off the deepest. Too much noise out there these days. I tend to hit it at opportune times, weekdays picking windows when the conditions would sorta slip under the radar a bit.

Well I ended up at the Roy. Was a lot different to what I was expecting. Got a few sliders so can't complain.
Tarnished a bit by a dad with his son. He was calling him on to waves with no thought to what's happening on the inside. Dropped in on me twice and forced me into the reef.
I really wanted to have a word with the dad but figured it would come across a bit too aggro. Hope the kids works it out before he drops in on someone less easygoing.

Steve, You’d love voodoo. Never surfed red bluff but it kinda looks like a shorter version of it

Re: Where did you surf today ?
fcuk i got so skunked today. Maybe 2 good waves out of 2 x 2 hour go outs.
The worst of it was at the lake mouth this morning. The lake has closed over again, happened rather quickly after council had spent bucketloads trying to open it up by moving mountains of sand. It was epic walking down and getting out. Saw 4 or 5 really beautiful sets. Good solid 4ft glassy rights. There were 2 guys on it getting waves so we knew it was a fairly consistent takeoff, not too shifty, as can happen out there. Just as we paddled out to the spot a bomb set cleaned us up, then, quite quickly, the wind changed and a 15 knot sw blew up and turned the surf to shit in about 5 minutes. Then a hell current started up trying to push us toward the island so it was a non stop paddle to stay in position, then the rip moved into the line up and then a giant lull set in, like 20 minutes. Then a couple of bomb sets kind of cleaned things up a bit but by then the tide had started filling in so the sets kind of stopped breaking out on the peak. We missed it by about an hour or so I think. This afternoon it turned on out the front for 3 sets, then went straight closeouts for an hour, then a bit more of the same.

Yep. All whitebread bogans except for a few. I keep in contact with the good blokes I grew up with. Terapai Richmond who’s a seriously good drummer and Greg Mckinley (the ox). They both only surf the reefs around there these days. I think the heaviest waves I’ve ever surfed were at Vooey mid 80’s with Jim Banks and Michael Mackie and Terapai. 8-10 foot south swell with a NW wind and six blokes out. I shit myself thinking about it now.
