I guess it doesn't scare me. But I'm always aware of the danger.
Don't really think about it until I'm under the water.
Good tip about turning your head away. But couldn't it still make a mess of the back of your head?

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

No — you wanna extend away from the legrope ankle, face down in the water. The whole length of your body is then between your head and the board. It may spring back but it’ll never hit any part of you.

This is kind of interesting. Dane riding and hating different types of boards.

That was a great review of a pile of boards.

The Channel Islands 5'9 Neckbeard seemed to be the one that he had most affinity for. Agree about planting your feet and not moving them

I couldn't help thinking it was a Channel Islands advert.

At least he said, 'look, none of these boards suit my surfing or what I want to do' (neck beard excluded).

I think he gave each board a really good workout though and tried to surf it as it was designed to be surfed and quickly displayed the limits of each design.

Is that fair comment?

All in all, I thought it the best and most revealing way to do a board test that I've seen.

In a sense, but there's a lot more that can be learnt from each design that you can't get from a week away surfing 12 different boards and being a guy that has pretty much surfed thrusters exclusively with the odd twinny thrown in.

E.g 'I just don't know where to turn the thing from'

Clearly guys that have put a lot more hours in have worked that out.

Not to be argumentative, I thought it showed an amazing surfer so hard wired to his board type that he could not get to grips with 80% of the boards. And that's why I thought this was great. Put Joel Tudor on Danes boards and it would have been fun. Saying all that Stephs seems to pick up different boards really easily, a question of subtlety and style, perhaps.
