The forecast doesn't have the swell changing direction. It's going to be an all closeout comp, I reckon.

Closeout beachbreaks have been a part of human culture from the beginning. These waves have been depicted in prehistoric cave paintings and rock art found all over the world. Closeout beachbreaks were sacred even to primitive forms of humans like the neanderthals. Many surf anthropologists believe that closeout beachbreaks played an integral role in the evolution of professional competition surfing and possibly the sport itself. Our capability to express ourselves on modern shortboards is possibly a result of our ape ancestors pulling into closeout beachbreaks and progressively getting weirder in the shorebreak somewhere. Mesoamerican cultures recognized that closeout beachbreaks did more than just break boards and fill cracks with sand, but put those who pulled into them in contact with a deeper external consciousness. Even today closeouts are being used by millions of surfers for spiritual and healing purposes. Magic Gabe Medina for the win at Peniche and the 2017 World Championship!

I think lording it over neanderthals as some kind of primitive form of Human is deplorable Al.

They had bigger brains and were fitter.

And Homo Erectus made beautiful tools and hated closeouts......

Surf anthropologists!
This is what I love about realsurf, every day some new dark corner of esoteric knowledge is exposed to our enquiring gaze

this homo erectus doesn't mind a closeout, to be honest.

Would you mind throwing in a little more homoeroticism

Home Erectus packs a close-out.

Sorry, just for a moment I imagined myself as Joe Turpel saying that to the girl at the check-out in Lennox IGA.

Joe Turpel has passed the mortal veil and been transported to another world. His commentary in Portugal has been completely surreal. So much "packing"! So outright weird! No wonder shearer has gone off species.

I have come full circle with Joe.

I mean obviously he is a beautiful human, but I am appreciating his strange talents more and more.

So the Hawaiians didn't invent surfing because they were plagued by good surf and warm water. Now I understand.

I'm sorry but I can't stand idly by and let this revisionism happen. The Turpel-Potter axis is like watching hour after hour of two zoned out mental patients playing non-competitive ping pong. I'll allow that there's a sliver of pleasure to be derived from his on-wave calling but that literally makes up 0.17% of a typical heat. True story: last night, I cued up a vid on the WSL site of the Florence Rd3 heat and literally punched the air with delight that it was Blakey and Strider in the booth

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.
