So not a Pollock Fan, Skip?
Guess you don't like Ian Fairweather, Mark Tobey or Cy Twombly either?

nah. Not much. Locally I like Richard Dunn. Lindy Lee, John Young and John Nixon.
I have a couple of Tim Burns' paintings which I adore ( albeit gifted by him) because he captured the south west coast of Tas so beautifully.
Internationally I dig Dove Alloiche and Thrush Holmes.
Tsuyoshi Maekawa's work is quite beautiful too as is Zhao Jing's.

Pollock!? Cummon. How could anyone not like Pollock.

I recommend the Chuck Close exhibition at the mca. Extraordinary portraits. He has prosopgnosia so his portraits help him remember who people are. After a spinal artery collapse he is wheelchair bound but still paints with a splint on his arm. Not a wanker.

Thank Christ. The last thing we need is a wanker in the 'art critic' thread.
Actually, I know it's the Huff Post and all, (places two fingers into his mouth but I reckon this guy's on the money.

I've always had a soft spot for Futurism, despite them being the darlings of the fascists.

my 5 yr old could say that.

As far as the futurists being the - as you say darlings of the fascists - goes, well, Pollock and his buddies de Kooning Rothko et al were darlings of the ultra right, the cia in fact, used as some kind of currency against the Russians in the halcyon days of the Cold War. The old this is freedom we nurture kinda schtick.
That the right, the reactionary, the fascists, the ultra conservatives, the despicable trolls and uber nazis usurp a curremcy or particular flavour to their own miscreant needs is nothing new at all.
Marketing one oh one are using this means of subliminal mind fcukery to sell dipshits all manner of goods and services they do not need.

Nah I've definitely seen some self professed gurus calling themselves Futurists. Marinetti would be pleased. "The caffeine of Europe". Definitely not Post Modern. In fact the Espresso Machine personifies the style.

Marinetti and the futurists lead me on inexorably to the golden age of car designs, the 30's, and then naturally to that talented industrial designer, Raymond Loewy. I used to think he designed all the Studebakers, but it was just a few of them.

How banal are today's designs compared to these:

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Well what a clever little 5 year old you must have. Does she also prescribe to theories about the CIA promoting Jackson Pollock?
Like yeah, that would really show the Russkis.

The Cloud Arch
Designed by Japanese artist and architect Junya Ishigami, the sculpture will span 53 metres from the Queen Victoria Building across George Street to the intersection with Park Street at Town Hall.
Pedestrians and the George Street light rail line, which is currently under construction, would pass underneath the 58-metre-high steel sculpture.

"It will become a symbol for Sydney and a popular drawcard for residents, workers, tourists and visitors."

What do you reckon Sydneysiders?

Clover Moore will probably make them close off 8 inner city roads to fit it, and put cycling lanes underneath it
