Re: Maldives
c'mon Loof, that old Maldives bait is one of the stinkiest and most obvious in the real surf pantheon and you came straight in and gobbled it down.

You are tripping steve. I just hit the ball back over the net. You are just so desperate for a victory you picked it up and ran home...

Re: Maldives
I dunno, theres a lot of worse things to do than spending a week or so floating around the central and southern atolls on a 95' boat.

Re: Maldives
As long as you travel away from the north Male area you will get your money's worth. The North Male area is plagued with boats and camps and on slower days you can surf with 25+ people in the water on a tight take off spot. We hanged out Jails for a couple of days and it was busy as.
We went with a boat that did the North Male and then travelled central and south atolls which was great HOWEVER the boats only travel during the day and the distances there are long compared to say Mentawis and some other North Sumatra areas. This translated in a surf in the morning, then daylight motoring for 6 to 8 hours depending on destination (wind , tide, etc) and surf in the arvo. Daylight motoring feels long and it is a waste of surfing time.
The skipper reason as to the day motoring was the changing sands banks and visibility of these, which i can understand but be ready to get cabin fever for sure.
I did liked the flatter reefs with softer almondy barrels (vs INDO), but not sure if I ever be back there.
Cheers
