Re: Fish
I watched that fish movie, Sprout I recall is quite good. Rasta surfing in Castles in the Sky is pretty nice to watch as well. I find traditional fishes with the keels a bit hard to control but it's also my skill level.

5'6 5'8 5'10eps with glass ins are the ones I looked at. There were two other 6'0s from memory.batoes wrote:do you remember what size the mackie's were jet?JET01 wrote:Poked my head into Finbox thirroul.
This Mackie side cuts are pretty special.
$1150 no fins. Ouch.
Have to get rid of bonzer mini merk and get a custom I reckon.

Re: Fish
They would be interesting to size because of the length of that tail. I imagine you would have to size up slightly? I rode one of his Lis style fish years ago and it was great. Then he started to bring out the sidecut fish, which were based on his snowboards. I recall seeing someone riding one in Glass Love or that film Kidman did - can't remember, but it was some really great free flowing stuff. A couple of the guys at finbox rate them very highly.
I've got too many nutty boards in my quiver. I think i need a straight up thruster...

Re: Fish
Spot on batoes. When speaking with the guy in Finbox he said he'd bought a 5'4 (65kgish). He was saying that because the tail is so long that he tends to get too far up the board and bogs his rail a fair bit. He reckons if he had his time again he would've gone 5'6 to help with this.

Garth Dickerson rides a Mackie in one of Kidmans movie. Ex DY surfer now living down your way.batoes wrote:They would be interesting to size because of the length of that tail. Re: Fish
Wow. Just found a site that gives you all the surf movies you can dream of for $5 a month.
Just watched glass love. Spirit of akasha. And holding on all in one weekend. Stoked.
Great footage of boards other that standard thrusters.

Re: Fish
has anyone in the Sydney area got a 5'8-5'10 fish they'd be happy to do a temporary swap with for a while.
i figure that way we both get to try a new board without spending any cash.

Re: Fish
I've got a few boards I'd be happy to do a swap with not just the mini merk. The only board I won't swap is my 6'1 single fin my wife gave me on our wedding day. Still no dings after 2 years. Too high on the sentimental value to risk it.saltman wrote:I just realised it was the mini merk right?JET01 wrote:has anyone in the Sydney area got a 5'8-5'10 fish they'd be happy to do a temporary swap with for a while.

PM me and check the fish on the left in the pic
Have a look through my quiver and if there's anything that gets your interest let me know.
9'6 log
7'7 X 22 X 2.9 PCC single fin (2-4ft)
6'8 X 20.5 X 2.85 PCC single fin (designed for bigger waves)
6'7 X 19 5/8 X 2 3/4 Miller semi gun (for sale)
6'4 X 21 X 2 3/4 Rabbidge fish (for sale)
6'2 X 20 X 2 5/8 mini merk
6'2 X 20 1/2 X 2 9/16 Miller waterkskate (for sale)
6'2 X 19 5/8 X 2 7/16 Dhd sweet spot
6'0 X 19 3/4 X 2 5/8 PCC swall wave short board (Tri/quad)
I just picked up a 5'6 Webber mini fish off the gumtree today complete with the original red twin fins for $150. It's got a few repaired dings and the usual heel compressions. Feels like too much foam under me. Although still early to say as it was only 1ft at greenhills. Looking forward to some 2-3ft beachies over the new few days to give it a go.
Where abouts are you Saltman? I'm only in a position to be swapping boards with guys from the Gong to Hornsby.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.
