Yeah, I havent seen much surfing on those Duo's which makes me think too much of them. Always seems to be fighting the board or struggling with it somehow.

My duo will be hitting the market shortly. Just too wave specific.

Even that footage of chippa on one, he rips but still looks like he is kinda struggling on it.

How do you find yours Batoes?

The best sessions i had were early ones on the tail end of a cyclone swell. It hooked into bigger waves with ease and felt really good through turns. Then i was left with summer leftovers and early autumn conditions. I spent a week on it over Easter and after riding it in everything i could - the bigger, curved waves were the only conditions i could really work with. Forget it in rising tide and under chest high, it just had no energy.

The thing is - maybe this was shaped for bigger stuff? Big burley Qld points etc? It's not a daily driver and therefore can't compete with my mlv and cv2 in the type of waves i surf.

The other thing is - i suspect this board needs a good rider at the helm. I'm going to use the word 'advanced.' I've had thirty years in the water - but i'm a pencil pusher with too many kids and only getting two (three, if i'm sneaky) sessions a week. Therefore, i'm not the man for the job.

That said, it was fun to try one out.

yeah - NPJ's an exceptional surfer that knows how to surf them well. I'd get one in that new foam he's trying out - super flat rockered, with a round square - that would work.

Looks like most of his boards are built for power surfing with those big fuck off fins on all his shapes

Yep, Purcho is an exceptional surfer with a unique style... He also surfs lined up powerful points a lot...

Style that looks from another time as his boards have a 70's ring about them

My little step down quartet - the squail is a really good small wave board. Flat rocker, wide tail, beak nose. The massive fins work well with the wider round square tail. It surfs with a bit more performance than my other NPJs.

Would like to revisit the Quartet at some point, but like you say - get a wide tail.

I loved mine when I was dialled into it, sometimes though it felt like an alien.

Believe when I say I do not get compliments on my surfing - however the only times I have is when I ride the Quartet because of its flowing nature and fishy nature. So easy to ride high on the wave with those big fangs.

After a lay off rode I my Quartet in peaky 3/4 ft. I wonder why I don't ride it all the time as it's a great all rounder and works in Sydney. I rarely have a bad time on it.
