Re: Where did you surf today ?
anyway surf, that south east pulse from SNZ hit yesterday arvo, it was a weird one, bombing set every 15 mins cutting through a whole lot of closer range shit
dropped a bit overnight but the shit went away, so much fun on beachies this morning in the rain, the southerly didn't really wipe it out till lunch.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
had a hard northerly running through it here.
I went looking with my son.
there was a big carpet python across the driveway.
I said go get that snake off the driveway.
he said how?
I said get a stick or kick it with your foot.
he got a blade of grass, tried to tickle it then nudged it with his toe and the thing reared up and struck repeatedly at him.
that was the most exciting thing abut the session.

Funnily enough it was supposedly NW north of the harbour and SE south of the harbour. Looked right from the cameras.

By a strange quirk of circumstance I got invited into the corpo tent at Snapper one year. Managed to sneak a couple of others in too. I think that's where I first met Crabmeat.
It was a dreadful place to watch from, the view was just of the side of the section after the rock, and the coconut prawns were shit. I watched half a heat, women's 2nd round I think, long enough ago that only one of them was much better than me.
I was underwhelmed.
The Burleigh single fin contest is normally worth watching if you happen to be in the area. Great natural amphitheatre.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Closest Ive been to a comp in recent years was being out at Cloudbreak on a lay day. There were a lot of pros about. I snapped my board relatively early in the piece so I was just hanging on the boat watching everyone surfing. Kelly cruised over on a jet ski to check it out at one stage. I could see why they like surfing there so much. Apart from the waves of course they are pretty removed from the laborious side of the comps. Being escorted through crowds, driving there, etc.
Funny thing was it was really quiet and laid back but once every half an hour or so a boat full of fans would motor up and start hooting and cheering for five minutes and then disappear. That happened about three times.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
We had our first club comp of the year today (last month we tried three dates - all shithouse).
Today the wind and swell held up all day.
Good fun.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Just moved into my seaside bungalow at Yallingup for the week, 50m to the beach.
2' onshore slop ATM, 4 surfers out, nothing happening. Just gonna take a drive to see some friends and check a few other breaks.

A few clean shoulder high sets near dark, no-one out.

that sounds great cranked! don't get eaten by a shark
Re: Where did you surf today ?
As I haven't surfed around here for a while I don't think I'll surf by myself. After a while though familiarity will probably breed contempt.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Yallingup 6am, conditions much the same as last night. No wind, shoulder high bumpy and crumbling, four out, watched for 15 minutes, no waves ridden. No point in wasting my time checking elsewhere, swell too small for the protected spots.
Forecast is 5 stars, current rating half a star. May really fire up later though.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Heavy chop, big steps on the face. SW in at 9am, but it was there all the time just offshore.
Sets overhead, got a few but way too choppy, staying on your feet was the main challenge.
Off to see some mates and keep an eye on what's happening
