Re: Where did you surf today ?
Does it sting a bit that your bold ‘no surf’ call turned out to be a million miles from the mark? A clueless chump like iggy, nobody expects anything different, but you’re a professional forecaster

Re: Where did you surf today ?
quite the opposite actually.
Had to jump through a lot of hoops to establish that my call was correct: 5/8ths of fukall of that swell got into Wales.
And most of what did was either wrap or windswell.
Exactly the same as my personal experience while in England.
Massive Atlantic storms that were blocked by Ireland and UK got some miserable windswell.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Because I like you steve I’m gonna help you out. Here’s the swell forecast for llangennith to Saturday. Now, you might have worked out that it faces west, so to extrapolate to other beaches (tip: Langland faces south) you’re gonna have to use a bit of nouse

Re: Where did you surf today ?
we seem to be talking past each other.
there's an enormous fetch right now within 3-400 ks of you.
Exposed coasts in Morocco are 10-15ft.
Wales is puny.
So I'm trying to work out , of that little amount of surf you are getting from that massive fetch, is it mostly local windswell or wrap around the southern end of Ireland.
Could you hazard a guess?
Don't you local surfers know that?

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Talking of tight swell windows and indifferent swell:
“The NSW coast is subject to a generally moderate wave climate predominantly from the south to south-east. Previous studies have found an average offshore significant wave height of between 1.5 to 1.6 m and average peak period of 9.4 to 9.7 s (Lord and Kulmar, 2000).”
Sad face emoji.

and yes, I know Llangennith has 4ft of winds swell right now.
you're being unnecessarily defensive when all I'm trying to do is understand a little more about your coast-line and how it behaves during these Atlantic storms.

Well you didn’t know that until I told you 5 minutes ago. Talking of wind swell, how’s that NSW ave peak period!? Looks pretty windswelly to me

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I can read Magic Seaweed with the best of them pal.
Average swell periods for the east coast of Aus are mostly low, but it's proximal fetches and consistency, along with a stack of good spots that make it such a consistent wave zone.
Along with a 180 degree swell window.
Anyhow, you don't seem interested in answering my (good faith) questions.
Maybe you just don't know?

There’s a couple more shots of Langland yesterday if you’re interested. As I said, looked ok

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Ok, that looks like something wrapped in around the bottom of Ireland.
Let me ask the question a different way: do you think that swell wrapped in around the bottom of Ireland?

Or an MR popout.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Looks like standard Cronulla beach breaks during a good chunk of autumn and winter.godsavethequeen wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 8:01 pmThere’s a couple more shots of Langland yesterday if you’re interested. As I said, looked ok
