Maurice is quite right. Not just Tom and Joe. They had an older sister, Anna. She is still with us.

Pat isolated himself from the family for many years. He was very harsh in his judgement of Tom's professional surfing career. It took a long time for those wounds to even begin to heal. This guy from NYC has shown no regard for any of it; never even bothered to find out what territory he was walking into. Like Joe, I hope Pat at least gets the money.

Isn't that completely weird though: that that story has never been told.

Tom wins three titles, is treated like a surfing God and his own father disowns his achievements. Thats Biblical stuff.

Nice little bit of gossip for the fccck hens to cluck about. No biggy, just another cnut dad not doing what he should.

Doesn't Slater have a very similar story?

Listened to the Beach Grit cast. Shearer you nailed it on the pool when you said bar Kelly’s wave every other wave in the pool is forgettable. The most crystallised comment on modern surfing Ive heard for ages.

Good discussion all up.

Thanks Thuddy.

I couldn't imagine a single person on Earth being entertained by that drivel but if you got something out of it then I'm very pleased.

Lol. Very enjoyable over the breakfast this morning. The Curran stuff has a deeper angle with commercialism vs. purity. Not unlike the wave pool stuff.

So this alienation from their dad drives them to attention seeking behaviour which ultimately leads to a world title. I wonder how often this scenario influences a persons behaviour?

Well Slater even with all his success still seems to be looking for validation. Curren, not so much.

The Michael Ho tribute ride says a bit

I think I’m gonna hit up that beach grit podcast so I can fall asleep to the soothing sounds of shearer’s voice.

I usually only venture there when someone links one of Steve’s articles.

I often have trouble loading pages there and all the click bait headlines shit me anyway.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.
