it only needs one.
Guess they have to keep those chinese fin setters earning their three bucks an hour.

Interested to see how the GX Q rears they recommend go in a 56 litre board with the meaty foil, reckon it may be tough controlling it is decent surf with that set up, a potential skull fracturing machine. Let us know how it goes but as it looks fun.

Had two surfs on the smooth olive today before and after work. Went well in smooth conditions this morning and just as good in the onshore 2-3fts off the pool this arvo.
Looking forward to winter when it's not so busy so I can shed the leggie.
It's the longest board I've ever tried to duckdive as I normally roll my longboards over.
Im using a salty merchants 9" matte black in it at the moment as the Volan 9" greenough 4a that Stuart had planned for the board was in the mail when I picked it up. It feels pretty good the way it is, so I might surf it for a while before switching over to the 4a.
So far so good really happy with the board. I reckon I'll spend most of my time on it this summer.
Anyone heading down to the fish fry at Oak park? I might head down there with my boards.

The tail is 13.5" at 1' and there's 1.25" of rocker in the last 28" of the tail (that's a lot in my book, same as my McCoy nuggets) so it shouldn't be too bad on the drop. With an angled take off and a stomp in the tail if it gets critical it should be good enough. Its not a gun but does have a gunny tail. I've got a few more decent waves on it and it dropped in nicely, sets an edge and drives itself down the line with little rider input.
I now have 3 quads, I'e tried various fin combinations and I'm starting to think that m5 front, m3 rears, which gives about the same area front and back, are the go. I'm going to get some more m3s today so I can have a similar set up for the all my quads.

Its a TSA, one of their "home brand" I guess, so no shaper is identified. $730 instead of the almost stock $800 price at my LBS for all the others; no shaper royalties I suppose.

I'm a fan of GX Q's rears with performance core M5 size fronts.....zippy (on quads 6 ft to 6'4)

$800 for a pop out or $900 for a custom locally made board with a resin tint? I d be paying the extra $100 (if u can't find a locally made midlength for that price u just ain't trying)

I hear what you're saying JaM71 but I've had a great thing going with my LBS for about 15 years. I can usually trade any of my boards for about a $200 or less change over, he also makes boards, but doesn't care whether I buy his or others in his shop. I usually trade about five boards a year and I never deal with anyone else.

That sounds like a great deal you ve got there cranked, I d consider running as a quad with a little nubster when it's really cranking,
Let us know how u go

I'd decided to go with it as a quad even in bigger waves, but thought it might need calming down a bit so a nubster is a good idea, especially as I already have one.

You've got 8ft of rail....why do you need 5 fins?

Well it would have been just four and a bit really. The board is gone now, traded for a 6' 10, the identity of which I'm too embarrassed to name here. The reasonable rocker in the tail wasn't enough to make up for stiffness of all the flat in the midsection, and the pintail reduced the effectiveness of the rail fins.

How bad could it be? A 6'10 FireWire advance?
