That’s something Ding King mentioned over and over, EPS boards delaminating under black areas even small carbon patches. Also caused by heat, boards left on hot cars, in the sun or in covers in the sun, they blow up. Structurally poor fin box installations is his main source of work though.

Surf warehouse warranty their boards for production faults, just take them back and get a new one. They are so cheap to make they don't care. I've got four and no problems yet, and they've all survived the baggage handlers which are by far the major source of board damage for me (next is fin damage on the reefs), irrespective of how much foam I wrap them in. If anything they seem over-engineered. Not denying that workers can fcuk up the process though.

By the way,Bert Berger (the guy behind firewire's wooden skin technology) always used the shittiest polystyrene foam for his custom boards, the strength was in the wooden shell, and so did Surftech for about 10 years, and their boards often look like new after 10 or more years.

Having said all that it would still be much better if they did use some higher density, closed cell polystyrene foam.
Ah, baggage handlers. Remember sitting on the plane to Bali one time with my son next to me. We looked approvinglyfrom the plane as the boards were stacked neatly on the end of the baggage trolley. Then the handlers threw about three big suitcases on top from a distance. Ding city.

Another board "for the wife"

I put my arms around a 7'3 Mick Mackie bonzer today.
I wanted to steal it.

Been watching a bit of footage of Tyler Warren lately. Nice style and seems to have an interesting slant on shaping in the Ryan Burch mould.

This sounds like an advertisement for a luxury car.

I ride this board once every 2 weeks (7ft) and mainly have a great time in all conditions. No, I don’t work for CI but, it’s a lot of fun. Like riding a cruiser skateboard with loose trucks.

Rode the other day in racing shoulder/head high shore break with steepish drop in, no problem.
