Box fin with no plate/screw!

Maybe spring loaded lugs lock into the slot instead of a screw/plate?

They been around for a while those........spring loaded ball bearings.....not sure how they wear with use.....still , better than two large bolts right through the board with 1" hex nuts on the the deck , to be secured with a fully charged Makita cordless hammer drill.

Can't believe Kayu failed to mention Geoff McCoy's gullwing fins have been available with this ball bearing set up for quite a while now.
The price of the Fcs fin is gouging us without it even being in the board yet.
In the US there was a company that started doing a quick release which is on the fin tab (that you put fin screw through) but I lost the bookmark for their website when my old computer karked it.
I'll see if I can find the site.
Good to have a quick release for those who use roofracks and want to take a midlength and a shorty that need to be stacked on one another which is what I have most days.

Ouch, just noticed the price. 120 bucks for a standard 7inch dolphin fin! FCS says bend over and take it.

Are these made to work in any fin box?

Actually, that's where I first seen 'em Cuttle............removable fins are the go for exporting and travel boards IMO.....apart from that , put the right fin in the right board and glass it in the right place solidly , so no one can stuff it up , and your good to go !....

The Gullwing fin comes with exchangeable spacers to adapt it to slightly different fin-box widths.

How does that work? I cannot figure it out from the photo.

Will it also work with fins that have the bolt at the front?

Sounds easy enough to do, but what I'm trying to understand is how the mechanism works. How does it secure the fin and how does it quickly release it only when required?
