yes the Dynocores with Corktops are build the same way as the Dynocores.. full durability. just the exposed cork as a surface skin may not last as long as the rest of the board.. but i will resurface it for $50.. but i don't see myself having to do any for at least 5 years unless you have 60grit shorts… lol.

just a bit bummed today… my favourite long boarder Chelsea Williams, who i have had the pleasure of making boards for the last couple years just lost the final for the world title today…

but nice to see she cannot leave her Dynocore felix at home too…
look out for the purple and orange board in the background..

Here's Dave making his GM model and then bloody McTavish re-issues his "Tracker" and now there's going to be plagues of these boards out there next time the points are good.
My paddle advantage could be a thing of the past.
I doubt those trackers could go as good as my GM does when it's pumping.
The GM's got the advantage of modern tweaks.

How many fins does that have Cuttles, 1? Would that work out well in 6-foot plus?

Tell me more about it! Is it better on hollow waves or slower pointbreaks/ long walls?

It's a 2+1 and I normally surf it with bonzer sides and a raked 6.5" centre fin which is all the way back in the box when it's 6' plus.
The biggest waves I've ridden it in were at Noosa and Alex on the largest swell we had this year.
The way Alex was breaking on that swell you wouldn't have recognised it as the soft, fat point it usually is.
The GM goes better on a hollower wave than a fatter one.
Though you won't want to be duckdiving too many waves in a row with its wider point forward as it is.
It's a board for those used to longboards in waves that make riding a regular longboard challenging...to paraphrase Dave.
Notice the rails and foil of the GM with a broad bean for comparison.
No difficulty in sinking them at speed.

Haven't ridden it with the Greenough 4C 8" fin in the above pic yet.
The GM paddles fast on the flats and it's handles drops well.
I've ridden it in ankle snappers a couple of times but it normally lives in the rack waiting for the few bigger days when the points are scaring a few off.

I love the outline. What is it, a 7'2" or thereabouts?

I'm looking for a board I can put my daughter on -- she's only 6 -- but also take out when it's big and sweepy and there's a ton of paddling to be done.

7'6" X 22" X 3" believe it or not.
55 litres if I recall correctly.
It is an excellent paddler.
Rode a McTavish sumo 7'2" X 23" X 3" in a 4-5' swell at Noosa a while back and it was much slower to paddle in the flats and with its full foil right out to its rails an impossibility to duckdive.
Copped a few good floggings with set waves at Tea tree where I could have easily duckdived the same waves on the GM.
Really appreciated how well foiled the GM was after riding the McT.

Cool. Cheers for the info, amte. Sounds about bang on with what I want to get. My daughter has just started paddling and keeps asking me if she can come out with me when its small. She can't catch waves on her own, but loves to paddle around the lineup on my boards and be pushed into waves.

And I've wanted a big single fin pintail for ever ... Now might be the time.

Dave, what do you think of the mid-length single-fin revival made popular by guys like Alex Knost etc.

What I have seen from afar is very morning of the earth style with modern tweaks. Lots of shuffling but still good use of curve in the rear-end.

What is the whole feel or advantage these boards provide in your opinion?

Surfing for me is fun and stoke with what i ride…
the mid length revival has a few poignant reasons..
in random order..
1- commercial.. its a board not everyone has already and theres not many around s/h..
2- commercial... you can't get them from the import pop outs yet or chinese shops, gsi etc
3- pleasure … they are easy to paddle.
4- pose.. you can ride them easily and look stylish if you have basic skills…
5- crutch… no-one expects you to do decent turns or rip on one.
6- function.. more foam , longer= catch waves earlier.
7- practical.. anyone from beginner to expert can get on one and the 40kg kid to the 100kg uncle can borrow it.
8- function...with a bit of shuffling they will go slow enough to get barrelled and fast enough to get you thru a few sections..
9- fashion.. the hipsters can get away with it and the non-hipsters can too….

Are the corktops just normal Dynocores with a thin layer laminated to the finished board? Or is is a whole different lamination process?

Can you get a standard Dyno cork topped?

Dynocores and Corktop Dynocores are built the same way. they are laminated in one go.. the cork is applied in the one shot lamination process..
that being said it would be possible to put cork on after, but in would increase the final weight and have much less affect on the dynamics...
