I'm not too fussed about the total cost of the board. I've been raping gumtree pretty solidly for the last ten plus years and spending next to nothing on boards. He's got some beautiful looking boards in stock too.

You'll definately need to post pics.

And, yeah, honestly how cheap are surfboards really?. Particularly yours with a proper glass job, you'll be surfing it for years so it'll end up costing fugg all in the grand scheme of things

Asked for full gloss when I emailed the order, but it didn't come up again in conversation yesterday. I'm not too fussed either way. Happy for him to do as he sees fit. The wet rub looks great too.

Can't wait to see it finished. He's got some seriously nice boards on the racks. Clean lines. His instagram account has lots to look at

Bought a new fin for my 6'1 1970's today. 8.5" lady violet aura (salty merchants).

Base of the fin doesn't seem to be deep enough. Might have to sand some of the foil off just above the base so it will sit flush. Right now 2mm of the fin base stick out near the trailing edge of the fin where the bolt hole is....

I don't have a vice at home. Reckon I'm better off getting Patto to do it for me?
I chop and change fins from time to time so the last thing I want is to over sand it and have to stuff around with those plastic shims...
No one like their fin floppin' around in a loose box.

Tak looks nice. Side bites would make it more user friendly.

Just realised that should've been in the midlength thread!

Jam I have a surftech 7'10 Takayama Egg. Its more gunny than the one in the pic, but heaps of rolled V throughout, pinched rails and significant tail rocker. It has a finbox but the supplied centre fin is 5.5" and it a US box so none of my other fins fit it. So I'll be riding it as a thruster which is fine by me.

I plan to surf it in small and large surf (double maybe). I've watched a guy surfing one at medium to large Impossibles fairly often and it went really well

Is that a later model, cranky?
I've seen some of his later eggs which look good.
I was riding a 7' square tail in Fiji that had a similar profile to the Taka on his site. Thruster though.

Thanks guys, I like the outline of the tak & think with a more pulled in nose they would be very versatile. I was thinking around 6'10. As much as I enjoy my singles side bites to help the turning arch are appealing. I have a pair of fcs bonzer sides which I used with a 6.5" centre fin on a couple of boards, those fins def add zip*
*i am a bonzer convert/zealot tho

Had my little 6'0 laying down, and the sun hit it at a certain angle showing how deep the spiral vee is. It's pretty full on.

Hmmmm. You can always try it as a bonzer if you get bored.
