I've felt them up, they feel solid enough..... but you'd need 6 months on one too test the durability.

Any idea what the construction quality is like ? Blanks, glassing etc? Even if they’re well priced, it’d be a shame to see one fall apart like an al merrick etc
A young fella I know bought an ed Sinnott board from sideways 499 special
Within a month it looked the deck like he had dropped a bag of oranges on it from a great height
Had that with a made in oz Mt Woodgee and Chilli too.
But had other boards from them not do that.

Here's a soulful sunday morning kickback aprés surf circa sixties seventies inspired single fin spin ...

Far from high performance, but nicely pieced together nonetheless.

I have a Sideways board, a Phil six channel diamond tail, surfed it a bit, solid as, no issues.

Hi-perf singles. Polfer Hull Designs. Dude clearly rips but it looks so far removed from single fin lines that I can’t relate it to single fin surfing at all. Moreover it’s thruster lines but looser and tighter in the pocket which is impressive.

I’m glad that vid is there. Looking at the bottom contour/rail, I was having trouble working out how it would performance. Odd design but clearly works.

I knew Peter Garrett surfed, but pegged him as taller.

Yeah it’s not my cup of tea. I like single fin surfing to look like single surfing. Though he’d probably have shown up any of the contenders in the pro Maldives single fin comps, as they’re all really just surfing thruster lines but with one fin. I’d still be keen to have a go on one. They look pretty fun and tripped out.

Was someone talking about the Phil Myers sideways singles in here? Unridden one for $350.
Pretty short at 5'6, but still packing 28L. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/11975262 ... source=sms

I was in sideways today and had a look at them
Geez they pack some volume all the way out to the rails
Chunky +
Flat deck with a beak nose?

Maybe it would go alright for me then. My shorties are usually around 27-28L.

I could imagine surfing it in 2-3ft clean, hollow points.

Arent those meant to be faithful to the late 70’s Col Smith boards?

I’m waiting for a bigger one, say 6.8 to pop up on The Gumtree. It’s a ‘like to have’ rather than ‘must have’ board.
