Looks very pleasurable Roy!
I can't help to think, watching you ride in the middle of the board there is so much of the nose out of the water. Have you ever tried a chop-down version keeping much of the tail planshape the same? Or will it miss out on some good floatation do you think?

Yes I do make boards which have shorter noses, it's just a matter of pulling the wide point forward and adjusting the rocker.
The long nose has some pleasant and functional qualities even when out of the water, and it aids the overall balance of the board, basically it's a different feel to a shorter nosed board both work.

Have you seen Earle Montaigue ( RIP) an Aussie musician and martial artist on the no mind 'lizard brain' and subconscious etc ?
It's probably analogy which can't be pushed too far but mainstream surfing seems to me to be like hard external styles of martial arts, (particularly the competition based ones ) compared with softer more internal arts.
By the way do you find that during some of your best sessions you kick out of the wave and can't remember what happened ?

The one downside is that when I wake of a morning, I know it's as good as I'm going to feel all day. Geez I miss hangovers....
Now, what were we talking about ... ? ... :?
My father told me that he once woke up in the morning and nothing hurt.. he assumed that he was dead.
