Thanks cavey, bloody brilliant response, and very much the way I am thinking.
Happiness is wanting everything you have.

Great reading on the fin setups there. Here are a couple of shots of the dumpling in surf bigger and steeper than it was made for, but the fins I previously mentioned really extend the range the board can be surfed over.

having trouble loading other pics will do it when I can.
Re: The big guy's small wave shredding implement- The Dumpli
plenty of speed on a smaller one
Re: The big guy's small wave shredding implement- The Dumpli
the photo display on these forums is doing weird things with the shots I am uploading, cropping and changing sizes. anyone know why?

Yeah mate ... there's a max pixel width and height you can see on the pages here. I'm not sure what the dims are, I do remember seeing them on the board at one time. Someone smarter than me might be able to chip in with the photo specs the forum supports?!!Mrkook wrote:the photo display on these forums is doing weird things with the shots I am uploading, cropping and changing sizes. anyone know why?
If you go over the max, the weirdness starts happening.

Very nice waves Mr Kook.
The dumpling is showing how versatile it can be.
Stoked!

It's not really changing the size, just the amount of it you can see. If you right mouse click and select "view image" you can see all of it.Mrkook wrote:the photo display on these forums is doing weird things with the shots I am uploading, cropping and changing sizes. anyone know why?

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: The big guy's small wave shredding implement- The Dumpli
Guys, Love the look & all the comments on the dumpling would love to try one but too old & fat now, they remind me of a 70's twiny i had :-http://www.surfresearch.com.au/mbennett.html , scroll down to TOM HOYE & the shot of his twinny, short, deep concave, thick big tail worked really well used to take it out in everything, even the Bower at 6'-8'. I'm 6' & at the time the board I was riding was 5'6", but, Mark your dumpling has a shite load more tech in them. I'll just have to be contented with reading guys reports on how they go, unreal I'm sure, keep up the good work.
Re: The big guy's small wave shredding implement- The Dumpli
Uncle - Tom Hoye was the fella supposedly the one to bring twinnies to Aust. But he was set up over in WA. I got board from him in 1980 when I was living/working at Margarets - not a twinnie, but it went great.
How the heck did you end up with one - if you were riding it at the Bower - would have been a whole lotta crew wouldnt have had a clue what the make was etc. He had a chined rail thing going on back then I recall - nobody over on the East Coast was doing that kinda stuff

Re: The big guy's small wave shredding implement- The Dumpli
I had something like that in the early nineties, big domed tail twinnies at the back, was a spinout machine in anything remotely critical. It were a H&H IIRC.

Re: The big guy's small wave shredding implement- The Dumpli
Jorgo,Yeah far as I remember Tom got here, Sydney, in approx '70 I think, but not for very long & was working out of Bennetts & a mate of mine was working there. He got a test ride on the twinnie &told us how it went,so me & another mate got one. I don't recall seeing too many around Sydney at the time, but, at the time that board worked really well for me, I reckon I still surf that twinnie way. Working off memory it had thick but low hard rails, with a fairly deep concave & flat bottom with a slightly rolled (hullish) deck, width 22"-23" & maybee 21/2"-3" thick, with a strange bulbous nose.
Thinking of that now I may have traded a 6'6" McT bluebird (3 fin - main fin & two 2" sidefins) in to get it, you only had one board in those days.HA!, theres synergy for ya traded a thruster for a twinnie 40yrs ago, just what i'd like to do now!

UThirtsty - Ah now I see, actually he may have mentioned at the time he did a short stint at Brookie when we were discussing where I was gonna ride the board he made me. It was 6'3" and a single fin pintail with flyers.
The brand he made them under was "Precision Equipment" and he had this idyllic workshop shed in the bush on a couple of acres behind Margs.
Ah those we the days surfing Carparks and the points at Cowerumup (sp) sorry and Margs of course - and many others spots. Geez it was a good time there - but my god the flies, the flies - especially this time of year.
But as usual I digress - back to it lads

Cavey, Yeah I'll get a " good floater for an old bloater" 7'2" x 23x 3(&a bit)" don't know if it'll ride like a shorty though.
