The L,E&A video thread

Post by WANDERER » Thu Dec 24, 2009 5:03 pm

Thought I'd start up a thread where people can post links to good surfing vids that fit in the Logs, eggs and alternative category.

Twill be a good way to kill some time and hopefully a good resource and alternative to the mainstream 'big brand' surf scene, not that there's anything wrong with 'manstream' or 'big brand' but just like I can't drink the same beer all the time, I need change and variety...

anyway, I'll kick it off by posting some links, try to give a description so people can know what they are clicking on (copy the blurb from the youtube or similar site to make it easy).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4oPjWAU0EE Malibu (the place)vid from 2000; "In surf history Malibu has been described as the Yankee stadium of surfing. On any given south swell, you can witness the action first hand at this legendary point break.

Classic and Progressive longboarding are the two main approaches in the sport and Malibu is a great place to witness some of the finest examples. From footwork to rail to rail surfing, the whole bag of tricks is on display at this classic right hander.

Malibu is the point to witness "state of the art in longboarding." As it was in the beginning, is now, and always will be, Malibu provides a great venue to witness the longboard masters hold center court. "

Joel Tudor Profile; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS9kTzCtZWo In surfing lineage there are only a few surfers who transcend the sport. Like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods these athletes are untouched by their peers. Joel Tudor is one of these people. Tudor can only be compared to the great legends in surfing. He is dominating in the competitive longboard arena, his shortboard skills are world class and his knowledge of surf history is unmatched in his generation. In 1998 Joel won the World Longboard Championship in the Canary Islands, solidifying his reputation among his peers and sliding his way into surfing's record books. After his title win, Tudor refocused his energy on his evolution and has further refined what makes him a style master.

Cardiff (California) Longboarding, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVx2FVo8JN0 Cardiff State Beach, in San Diego California, makes a perfect statement about today's longboarding arenas. This west facing reef break offers endless opportunities for longboard surfers to polish their skills on one of California's classic waves. The right-hander at "south peak" is a long wave with many sections. Steeper at the takeoff and softer through the middle, the inside section is a perfect place for some tip time.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Awesome thread. I got One California Day as one of my chrissy pressies, a good watch, a little gloomy at times but still worth watching.

But it is true, And relevant to subject.

I cannot stand that AARRGGHHH shit that they put on Shortboard movies nowadays, but most L,E & A movies today are a little slow on the music side....Yes?

Just seen this one pop up on Tyler Hatzikians facebook status update; "Scotty Stopnik riding a 9'6 (Tyler) riddler model at blackies in newport beach. Filmed by kyle lightner" (for Mr Pridmores benefit, the riddler also use the stinger idea as well as a distinct cut off nose)

I like the reverse cover up - noice!

Musica surfica is such a pile of pretentious foppery.

Emperor's new clothes syndrome.

Plus this new trend of having these limp moaning weevils with drab acoustic guitar is really lame, blubbering on about their weeny emotions as if that's the epitome of soul is super slack, tell them to harden the fuck up

 :P
