Finless board at Winki pop
Check out the crazy board Derek Hynd was riding at Bells the other day. About, 3 pictures down and another of him riding it like 5 pictures down: http://www.coastalwatch.com/news/articl ... cleId=2650
Wonder if it is a new design or something old school they have pulled out of the closet. Anyone got any ideas? how's the massive concave in the tail!

haven't seen him ride with fins for over a year now. he's progressed from tearing the fins off a beautiful looking twinny (much like tom curren's bawa twinny) to reshaping the bottom of paddle boards.
i didn't take these photos .. the were handed to me from a mate on a cd. not exactly sure who did take them, but if the photog sees this, thanks for the photos, they're great (heaps more than are posted) and if you want any taken down just say the word.

you can read more about it on the Safe to Sea website - http://safetosea.blogspot.com/2007/10/h ... le-of.html
Sort of - but a custom board - he was saying he'd tweaked the rails to get more traction.Revolution wrote:Dee-r-e your thinking of jamie obrien in freakshow. Not channels or anything just fins ripped off the bottom, making barrels and doing numerous 360's.
Might have been in Freakshow too - I've not seen it.

Dan Malloy's been doing this as well, using super thin-rail Liddle hulls. And i've heard of him also using a 'bottom-half' or somthing like that. kinda like a flexspoons greenough used to ride -- rail so thin, that they hold without the fin.
people that seen him ride that way claim he can really get up speed in smaller surf.
seen the o'brien stuff too - yeah youtube -- good shit actually.

the video that will load will be the most recent one posted (i believe...)
