One day perhaps. But at this point I've got my quiver and all conditions covered. Now reduced it to 6 boards in total that'll cover knee high to 12 foot regardless of however it's breaking and however I feel like surfing on the day

Got Huie's fun in the mail. It looks a charm. Can't wait to get the board repaired and put the fin in and surf it.

Looks beautiful but my eye is very untrained in such matters.

Dropped the board off to Jacksons yesterday for repair and setting of the fin box. Prob 3 weeks before I get it back. Can't wait !

Read something on PCCs site about single fins that seems to make a lot of sense.

“We rode the waves on our surfboards, now they are riding their surfboards on the waves”

Hippy connotations aside, it sums up well the feel of a single fin being constantly hooked into the power source of the wave.

Finding that the more I'm swapping back and forth between my standard thruster and the single fin, that both really compliment each other. It's making my surfing on the thruster more consistent with holding a better line all round.

board's now been repaired, and just had my first test run with huie's fin. set the fin almost to the very back of the tail.

surfed wanda thru greenhills. 4-5 foot of south swell. got one particular set, a right that broke for well over 100 metres. paddled in early as the wave surged, but as i edged in it was quite steep on take off.

it was walled up and all down the line, so i set a high trim line, milked it for speed and run it out to the shoulder as far is a could, then cutback deep for the reform run on the inside bank, where it then bowled up more and ran faster before finally slamming into a shore dump.

the board and the fin go beautifully together. glad i got the 9 inch. it's got heaps of drive and the depth feels very stable.

The banks at Wanda were pretty average when I was there yesterday arvo and it was mostly breaking into the shore dump. Didn't like the look of all the whitewater on the cam early this morning ... ;)

Thanks matticus! Though will pass on it actually. As I've now got that section of the quiver covered well enough. Plus at those dims its a bit overkill for me these days. Cheers all the same.

Petulance. Banks were ok today. More size and a south swell is all they needed.

You gonna hit up maroubra later this arvo ?

Yeah thinking of hitting it on the late. It was a tiny south swell yesterday. Looked ok before I suited up but the wind picked up when I got into the water and there was really only one takeoff point.

Took the old 6"11 pintail single out at maroubra late yesterday for shits and giggles to see how it would cope.

4-5 foot of jumbled lumping thick wind blown surf. The sets would form up as doubled up jacking bowls with a stepping take off, a late sheer drop over the falls, into what looked like a closeout, but after a second or so it'd fill back in, reform and throw up a steep racing wall with cutback end section before heaving over onto the inside slamming sandbank.

The board actually went ok in its own special way given the conditions. It was like wielding some sort of medieval club that brutishly got the job done.

The thickness and forward foil enabled a paddle in super early and plow thru all chop on take off. The pulled in pintail and depth of fin gave the board heaps of hold and stability on the bottom turn, and the rail length helped mow down the wall and cover ground into the cutback.

Nothing graceful but it was fun nonetheless.

I stopped to watch the action at the northern end on the way back yesterday. I made the right decision to head to the southern end.

It was even bigger out there this afternoon. The swell had lots of east in the mix. North end was a thick shifty 6 foot breaking way out the back. No rip to help you get out, it was tough work, coming thru non stop. Pretty much closing out. Too much wind, too much water moving about.

Picked this up for $150.

6 x 20 x 2 9/16

Crazy concave bottom. Slight vee on entry into a double inside a single then vee on exit.

Looks like a bucket of fun. Just need some swell now.

It is. I'm stoked with it. Think it's a pommy shaped board ? Recently enough made. Though the design itself looks futuristic late seventies .

Bought it as an allrounder for domestic travel (Jetstar cap their board size at 6'2 including cover).

Hopefully it should do the trick for East Coast tassie. Also looks great for a wave like bells or Gold Coast points in the small to medium range
